I'm not an MT snob.

I just get tired of the pathetic excuses I get.

"its bad in traffic"
You want bad in traffic? try sitting in my trans am 6MT in bumper to bumper for an hour, the clutch effort on that car is (no lie) at least 5-8x the effort of the tsx. Plus the TSX is so easy to launch in 2nd and you can even get away with 3rd if you're feeling crazy and it gives you something to do while you're staring at brake lights.

"_____ cant drive stick"
Maybe this is me being a snob, but i think everyone should be able to be able to do the basics of driving a manual.. I'm not talking hardcore heel and toe double clutching shit, just be able to get it into first without killing it and the rest is easy if you're not driving hard.

I guess the thing with auto/manual in the TSX is that with the auto you lose quite a bit on the 0-60 compared with the manual. I have seen 0-60 for a 6mt rated from 6.9-7.5 where as i have seen 0-60 for the auto in the 8 range.

When i first got my TSX i had it for two weeks and then they finally did the carpet protection crap (yes i know its a lease but i can be a sloppy bitch sometimes ad would rather not have to pay for new carpet when i turn it in) anyway I got a 5AT loaner car, and i was like.. emm where did the power go? It was just as much fun around corners and on the highway but the nice zoom you get in 1st in the 6MT was gone. For me thats a big deal especially having had a 300HP Caddy STS a 240HP CTS and a 350 HP Trans am in the past. Despite my stupid financial decision to get my Trans am, the initial idea of the TSX was something that was practical and had the fun of a sports car.

So I think for people who bought the TSX as an entry level luxury car the 5AT is a good choice, but if you want to get the most bang out of the ivtec engine the 6MT is the way to go.

Just my (put 5 cuz its more like 10c the way i rambled)

People have different reasons for buying a car and choosing a transmission. They are not excuses they are choices. No one needs an excuse to buy the car they want.

Well I had a choice between the TSX and the s2000, and I chose the TSX because having a sedan semmed to be more practical for me, and I don't mind the luxury at all. But an s2000... wow that's still a beautiful car and definately on my 2buy list.

Its no secret that the 6MT is a better fit for the TSX (and most cars for that matter). What I take exception to is some 6MT drivers acting as though the 6MT is THE only choice for the TSX as if the AT turned it into a Pinto.

We can all agree that the TSX's strongsuit is handling and last time I checked, handling wasn't effected by the tranny ( See my 90 Deg turn @ 53MPH thread ) I bought the TSX for its styling, handling and the fact that its a Honda.

And yes I know that the driving experience is more fun with a MT and you have better control of the car etc, etc, but its a 4 cylinder 4 door entry level lux sedan for christ sake, not a S2000.

Its War

I'm surprised that the results are about even.

6MT here...wishing I would have bought an Auto because of all the damn traffic, and so my lady could drive the car occasionally.

I'm not sure how we AT'ers manage losing that extra sec racing from stoplight to stoplight. In fact this moring, I was 30 seconds late for work because of the damn AT tranny.

I have the 5auto...first car in the last 3 that is not a manual but the wife cannot drive a stick (we have tried and she WILL not learn..she could but won't) so we got the auto.
Do I wish that I could have gotten a 6speed? Maybe, but I really would have appreciated having the option! There are certainly times that I miss a manual and times that I'm glad that I have the auto.
I think that it is pretty narrow-minded to make this choice into a "pathetic excuse" thing. No, it's a choice (as stated previously) and a choice that we each make independently within the realities of our situation. It seems rather childish to make it into something other than a personal choice.
The last time I checked...my "unit" has not shrunk since I moved to an automatic transmission
