How much money are you looking to spend? I can think of a lot of really really good, but expensive things so it kinda depends on a price range.

an intake is a reasonable purchase...tried to get my g/f to get me one, but she just spent twice as much and bought me new living room tables so I had to get it myself

Driving lessons would be a good idea. Check out information at Irwindale Speedway and Buttonwillow or Willow Springs Raceways. They all hold different driving courses for all levels. Another thing you could do, if you're looking to shell out serious money, you could try Bob Bondurant's Racing school or one of the other major racing schools across the country.

Is he looking to race, just take a skills course, defensive driving, etc.?

The Sports Car Club of America sponsors classes:
http://www.scca.com
And the National Auto Sport Association sponsors HPDEs, which train drivers to race in their sponsored circuits:

Get him a TV in the car. I wish I had one, but not no cheapy system either one that is also a headunit and controls the monitor in the back seat, plays DVD's and video games, and Navigation wouldnt be too bad either. Geez your a nice girlfriend.
I personally wouldnt care for driving school , I know how to drive and I dont think I need to learn how to drift just to go to work everyday and be stuck in traffic.
WTF Im gonna learn ---How to drift into my parking space ? get outta hea.....

I love it when people say "I know how to drive" or "WTF am I gonna learn"...

Personal experience here...

I thought I knew how to drive too. However, when I got involved in road racing (that's on a track), I realized I didn't know squat. You learn a great deal about car control, driving line, traffic situations, accident avoidance, and it really tests your patience. Plus, it makes you a more attentive driver. Before I started racing, I didn't pay all that much attention to things going on beyond the car in front of me. Now, I probably am scanning the road as far away as I can see. KINGFABIAN, spend a couple hundred dollars and take a basic defensive driving course. You might be surprised when you learn a thing or two.

Also, I personally don't like TVs in cars. I think they're a rather dangerous distraction and, like cell phones, should never be used by the driver in a moving vehicle. But that's just a personal thought.

I've taken a couple of the 2-day performance driving courses at Skip Barber http://www.skipbarber.com and they operate at Laguna Seca, among others.

I agree totally....it's different than you think. In fact I think it's totally different to what people think it is.

GREAT idea for gifts btw!

Just out of curiosity, who is your bf? Is he a member of the forum? I'd like to add him to the list for the meet. I'm gonna be sending the whole group a final PM with the details so I wanna make sure he doesn't miss out.

Sounds like a good present to me. My gf already knows that so I don't even have to say it
