Question What path does air take to enter a TSX engine

Hey all

I've bought a 2006 TSX that had been in a front end accident.
I have an OEM air box already but not sure where the air goes before it enters the air box. There were a bunch of crushed plastic tubes.

Here's a diagram of the air box -

What comes before the tube where the #7 is?

Could someone take a few pix for me? I'd really appreciate it.

I don't know if the 06 setup is exactly the same as 04, but if it is you draw air from behind your radiator. It then takes a 90 turn going through a wall separating a space from the rest of your car in front of the driver's side wheel well. After that it will go into a noise suppressor (forgot the technical name) which then leads up to #7. Do yourself a favor and get an icebox. Shortens your intake, gives you cooler air (relative), and you get a bigger volume air box

^ like he said, from #7 there's a pipe that goes down to the resonator box(which is behind the bumper) and a tube leaves that box heading upward and sit right in front of the battery

Agreed (kind of). A short ram intake is the easiest and it sounds cool too.

I still have the OEM air set-up with K/N drop in filter. If you disconnected the air intake tube from #7 on the bottom of the OEM box; would that make a "poor man" ice box?

in a way it would, but the icebox got a pipe leading down behind the bumper with a velocity stack on it.

so think of it as an oem cold air intake, sort of

OP here are some pix from an Injen manual that shows how to install(uninstall) the oem kit.

It is for their cold intake but it works for what you want too.

what do you mean broken air intake? either way it's gonna suck in air, but if anything get's in the throttle other than air, it will damage your engine
