We all know that Honda/Acura have 2 oil filter made by 3 different company. The small one which is what our car calls for and the bigger one found on suv, S2000, and some other. The three company are Toyo Roki, Filtech, and Honeywell.

Based on what I've read, the best out of the three is toyo roki, then the filtech, then the honeywell. My surrounding dealer only carries the Filtech and honeywell. The filtech is starting to be hard to find.

I use the bigger of the two made by toyo roki if i can actually find it and the filtech. Honeywell .. lol hell no. it's fram. So what do you use?

I use K&N's filter because it has a 1 inch nut on the back so I never have to worry about getting one of those stupid filter wrenches in there if it's stuck. Just put a socket on it and you're good to go

Used Mobil 1 filters for the first 4 years (2005 model), until my local Autozone decided they were so proud of them that they wanted $12.99 each. Now I use OEM Honda (Filtech I believe).

I spent so long trying to figure out which filter to use. After reading some independent tests, I decided on the Mobil1. And yeah, they cost $12.99 ea but she's worth it.

Bosch premium (#3323). Very high quality internals, inexpensive, and available many places. Its the one in the BLACK box with the BLACK filter can. Has their ultra-premium filter media and is built like a tank compared to a Fram/Quaker State/Motomaster/etc.

OEM is likely Fram. Fram is garbage.

Back a few years ago, there were Toyo-Roki brand OEM filters -- those were excellent filters. But that was then and this is now, when Honda/Acura uses Fram/Honeywell as their OEM and the quality isn't as good as it should be or once was.

I've heard this sentiment before: "Fram is garbage". I have no dog in this fight, but I'm curious what prompts this comment (and if anyone that makes it actually has any idea what they're talking about). I'm guessing there are "independents tests" out there that show how great or how crappy they are (it seems like you can always find a "test" to show that your opinion is the right one), so I'm reluctant to fall into that trap. I do remember that years ago, Consumer Reports did a pretty exhaustive test and Fram did quite well. Plus.... since I imagine Fram must sell like a gazillion filters every year, if they're so crappy, I wonder why the streets aren't littered with like tons of blown engines resulting from having their oil filtered by Fram.

there's numerous test out there that already deemed the Fram is garbage. I myself have used fram in the past on older vehicle. And never once have i missed my scheduled oil change. Out of all the time, I've found gasket still stuck on the engine with fram filters and none on Filtech/Toyo Roki OEM. Yes the Fram sell a bunch due to population diferences. We all know enthusiast population < general population. So that alone tells us most people don't really give a shit. They just buy whats cheapest. Us enthusiast prefer to use our money on quality product.

I used Fram filters on my old Honda for over 270k miles without a problem. Gasket getting stuck is most likely the operator's error. You need to apply motor oil on the gasket before installing it. Fram works.

Yes Fram "works", but for the price you can get a Bosch 3323 or even OEM (non-Fram ones) for the same or cheaper, and they're proven to filter better.

Frankly for $5000+ for a new engine, I'll spend the extra few bucks or extra few minutes (researching) to find a filter that isn't prone to failure or poor filtration, instead of replacing my engine.

My family and I have used Fram filters in everything but our BMW's (which use Mann filters).

I would also like to see said Fram tests.

A little dramatic aren't we? I change my oil every 5K with Mobil 1, and use the OEM Acura filter. If I need a new engine down the road, I doubt my oil filter played a material role in it.

i dont understand......for the same price or a dollar or two more you can get a much higher quality filter i.e. one with metal end caps compared to paper.

The you tube video is data. The opinon is an interpretation of the data. Which is like every hard fact that you will read/see. I can give all the data you want, but it still needs to be interpreted and a conclusion is drawn from it.

I think that you and ck123 feel unnecessarily compelled to deter people from something that may have worked for them for a significant amount of time based on either negative personal experience or loosely-interpreted things on the internet.

These websites, while containing good information, don't say that Fram filters should be avoided or provide inadequate performance. I won't avoid looking for a new filter based on this, but it doesn't cause me any real concern about the filters I've used for years without having issues.

If you guys use the Honda OEM filter, make sure you buy the one with the following part number:

15400-PLM-A01 (*made by Filtec, not the garbage by fram*)

The one made by Fram has this part number:

15400-PLM-A02
