My first and only mod thus far was the Injen intake that I installed in SR mode. It has been a blast thus far and I have no regrets putting it in. I would say it's a fairly easy-to-install first mod.

Lightweight wheels and tires. Response, handling, etc.

BTW, I made a thread awhile back called "Rank your Mods". Search for it; it gives some pretty good insight into what people believe are their best mods.

The number one best mod I have ever installed on both my prior (now sold) tricked out Accord and our current TSX is top of the line summer performance tires.

No, I'm serious - I'm a firm believer now I will never skimp on tires again. I'm currently running Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position tires (235/45/17 Y94) on slightly wider 17x7.5" ET55 A-Spec rims.

I had both tuner friendly Yokohama's and well regarded reviewed Kumho's on my prior Accord in 225/40/18 sizes. But the final set that car had was 225/45/17 Bridgestone Potenzas RE050A-PP on BBS 17x7 rims after I sold my 18x7.5 RacingHarts. The better rims made a difference, but nothing helped the ride, grip, braking or road noise like some serious top shelf tires. Better road noise also makes your stereo sound better too.

So I would give up a CAI mod to afford better tires. They are that important they improve everything behind the wheel. I'm looking forward to wearing out my Potenzas now so that I can try Michelin Pilot PS2 tires next.

Prior to having the A-Spec rims, I had the Potenza RE050A tires on 17x7.5 ET50 Sport Edition F7 rims (from TireRack.com). The tires ran almost $200ea, the rims $99ea. I didn't care about the rim, the point was finding anything cheap to fit the tire I wanted on my car right then. I would recommend the same to anyone. It's worth every penny. Spend you money on the tires not the rims. The tires touch the road, not your rims.

And with these summer tires I now run dedicated winter tires on the old OE 17x7 ET55 rims. 215/50/17 Dunlop WinterSport M3's.

1. Better performance tires.
2. Better aftermarket brake pads.

Neither of the above mods are really a sacrifice, just replace as needed when the OE parts are worn out. Way cheaper then spending oodles on trick JDM stuff.

For those that don't want to upsize to wider stock rims, I've also had my eye on a new release of Continental ContiSports3's. They just release a new version in the TSX stock 215/50/17 size XL rated and speed rated above Z now. I love tires so much I was thinking of picking up another cheap set of SportEdition rims just to play with them too.

Well this is my daily driver so i want to keep the ride somewhat comfy. Doubt ill lower it, unless i get coilovers and adjust the dampening.

Otherwise I agree, tires make a huge difference on most cars. Cant wait till these stock tires need changing. I also cant stop thinking about those Ronjon Legends.

Comptech Sways would be nice also.

Change all "ACURA" grill and ememblems to "HONDA", "Accord", and "Euro R".
Second, change Suspension to lower your car.
Third, get mugen body kits and lip spoiler.
Then, the rim and break
Also, intake, exhaust, . . . . .
Finally don't forget to put a JDM or European plate on.
Make it different.

I can't comment on tyres because our cars in Australia come with summer tyres. Bridgestone RE001, now those are nice. Have them on my car now.

i'd probably say coilovers also. i have tein basics. less body roll, car feels more-solid when driving, and the lower profile looks badass.

For you, I wouldn't suggest doing any mods since you're probably going to keep the TSX for as long as you kept the 3 (and the S2k before that) ...

But seriously, since you already have the NSX to mod, I think your first mod should be to replace the horrible OEM tires as MrChad already mentioned. If that's too boring for you, I'd suggest perhaps a rear sway bar (CT or Progress) instead of coilovers. Contrary to what most people have recommended, I think coilovers might be a waste for you because I personally wouldn't want to signicantly lower any vehicle that I planned to drive in the snow (which I'm assuming is your intention) .

I still own Mazda3, its just that my mom likes it more than the TSX and wont give it back.

I could take away the Mazda from my mom and get something else, but I would feel crappy doing that.

Plus if i traded the Mazda3 in then i would have negative equity going into the next loan. Its one of my rules to NEVER do. I refuse to do that no matter if its only a couple of grand.

So here I am. I wont sell the Mazda3 because I owe more than its worth and i cant technically sell the TSX because... its not under my name.

Sure we could swap names on the loans but seems like a hassle. Does anyone know an easy way to do that without having to pay taxes? Plus the interest rates on both cars are low since they were bought brand new.

Blah doesnt matter, they still owe $24k on the TSX. No way i can even get that much for it even if i wanted to.

Thats the last time im explaining myself. So let me mod my mommys car in peace. Plus the TSX is a great daily driver.

Hondata, A-Spec suspension.

/thread

Both are fairly affordable and give good results.

I'd stay away from an Injen intake as it IMO robs what little low end torque the car has. I still have mine installed.

Oh, and get rid of those god awful 06-08 wheels ASAP and pick up A-Spec wheels.

Hehe, just messsing with ya dude .

Seriously, though I would consider a RSB for a cheap but worthwhile mod on a DD.

if you don't really want to lower your car, i would suggest getting the a-spec full lip kit. it gives the car a subtle sportier look without affecting the ride quality whatsoever. it was my first mod and it looks pretty sweet even without expensive wheels.

Lowering the car was by far the best thing I've done. The stock wheel gap is horrendous. I'd suggest Tein CS suspension if you're lowering a daily driver, as this gives a ride quality close to stock.

^^Yeah reflash is probably the best bang for the buck in terms of acceleration. I wouldn't skip out on a rear sway bar though and some new tires

i don't know. imo, lowering is somewhat needed if you're going to add on a bodykit. even if it's just lowering with the a-spec, it'll look that much better.

it's like getting new rims for your car and not lowering it. it just doesn't look right.

MISCONCEPTION

lowering the car does not always mean a more firm ride.

I own a set of Tein Comfort Sport Coilovers (Tein CST or Tein CS) and
I'll vouche that the ride, lowered can certainly be SOFTER than stock
when the dampers are set to full soft.

Those without the CST will cry, "not possible, you're in idiot."
Well, making opinions with no life experience is what makes those people idiots.

Trust me and every other Tein CST owner when we tell you that lowering
you car with Tein CST will NOT make the ride more firm if you don't want it that way.

This is only for the CST, NO other coilovers for our car that I know of.
Not even the Tein SS or Mono Flex or anything else. The spring rate on the CST
is unique for our car vs. other coilovers, much softer.

It's just a matter of dropping the 2k to get them ordered and installed.

My opinion is that A-Spec is a waste of money, period.

For my 05; I'd say the hondata reflash was a terrific mod. But, everything I've done has improved the performance, or look of the car in one way, if not the other.
