what do you guys think?

hey all, alot of tsx owners do the unbadge thing, well i was wondering what you guys think about PAINTING IT black instead either NHBP or a straight shinny black? only the accura n tsx badges? or debadge and paint the "A" logo? just wanted az members thoughts. if you guys think this would look unique and maybe add a cool effect i'll be more convincing in doing it

If the emblems are black, the exterior chrome trim should be black too or else it just looks odd.

paint the badges using erasable black marker, then take pics for us to see. if it does not look kool then go back and erase it.

I'd really have to see it to render an opinion. In my mind's eye it doesn't look that good.

Chrome is all about looking luxurious so if you get rid of it you lose a bit of luxury.

Black is, well, black. I haven't seen it done, but that's a good thing because it shows you're creative!

The final look will also depend on what mods you have. Colored trim/badges look pretty cheesy on a stock car IMO. Think of the gold H's that were so popular in the 90's.

A good example of coloring/modding is the orange trim bits Honda Access put on their new Accord HF-S concept at the SEMA show. I think edmunds inside line has some good pics.

i've seen painted 'A' emblems in the back before.

it doesn't look so good. but it might've been the kind of paint the guy used. or maybe he didn't prime the surface.

Painted emblems look like ... painted emblems. Some may say, "Ooh, wow, that's a distinctive look," others may say, "Lookit that dorkus, he painted his badges so he could look different."

FWIW I chortle when I see cars with the optional "gold" badges. They don't look like anything other than add-on gold which (usually) doesn't match the rest of the car (i.e., chrome door trim, handles, window frames). It says nothing to me other than $150 wasted money. Get your Cuisinart gold-plated, it'll impress the house guests. That's why I debadged, it sidesteps the issue. No extraneous doodads, no confusion, less clutter, and no question of what color to make them.

The single chrome (A) on the trunk matches the one on the grill. I'd only paint it if I had a different grill. Just my , take it for the offhand comment it is.

I think black emblems could work on white but not against any other color, and you'd still be left with chrome all over the rest of the car contradicting the emblems.

thx for all of your inputs, reasons why i even thought of this is becasue im goin to replace my grill with the type r grill so basically it will be badgeless. Guess im trying to go for a "stealth" look (like no one knows what a tsx looks like lol) but it was the idea, and since taking off the A symbol means two holes i thought about painting it. im still gonna see if it would look okie with erasable marker this weekend.

btw i have NHBP thats why i said i wanted to paint it black or the paint repair stuff from autozone

You might buy a replacement (A) badge, and try painting it with a muted silver/grey. The carbon color I see on some wheels. In fact, if you get wheels like that, paint the badge to match. That would look "muted" or "stealth" (having been around stealth aircraft, I know a little about the look). I think black on black would look silly -- like you just painted it.

DEFINITELY remove the "Acura" and "TSX" badges, I find that just the lone (A) badge is more distinctive as the only chrome back there.
