What to do to make the TSX less boring?

Ok lets admit it... a stock TSX drives kinda boring (unless you have a manual, which unfortunately I don't).

At first I was going to leave it stock but now I want to make it a little more fun (I'm now kicking myself for buying a K&N drop in filter instead of an intake).

Would lowering it an inch do the trick (Eibach Pro kit or H&R)? What about better tires? I'm trying to upgrade the brakes now w/Hawk pads and Goodridge lines (stopping fast is fun). What else should I do? Not looking for something too dramatic, just something to add a little more soul.

Reflash, RSB, lightweight wheels and better tires, coilovers, umm...
How dramatic is too dramatic?

I bet the reflash would be the best option for you.
but I would go for NEW TIRES!

another vote for reflash. I did the reflash after all the other bolt-ons and it made for a very pleasant change.

Hondata would be nice, but what year is your TSX? I'd love to get Hondata for my 08, but its not out yet. What year is yours?

And how stock are you looking to keep it? You could always get the factory A-Spec suspension for a mild drop. A few people here on the board have it and seem to like it. Better tires would be great. The stock Michelins are great for economy and longevity, but suck for handling.

Reflash, better tires (possibly with lighter wheels), RSB, A-spec suspension. That + your brake upgrades more or less reflects where I want to get my TSX eventually. Add intake/header/pulleys if you want even more engine performance (I'd still get the reflash first, 6k VTEC is ). A lot depends on how much you want to mod, what your budget is, and what year your TSX is. 04-05 benefits from a high-flow cat, 08s can't be reflashed yet, etc.

I agree. Give us a budget and your year so we can point you in the right direction. Obviously you're looking for performance so that would def be a bit on the pricey side. A lot of the suggestions here are good. Top ones I would say would be a reflash (04-06 only), drop (more than a mere inch IMHO), RSB, I/H/E, pulleys, brakes, tires...uummmm, so many options but it all depends on your limits in money haha.

define your budget and define "not boring"
otherwise

i/h/c/hondata/pulleys/gaskets and tb spacers
suspension
RSB
lightweight wheels and performance tires
new brakepads/rotors
gigantic and obvious touring car wing

...in that order.

CTS V is a pretty good vehicle, even the older ones...on the racetrack they hold their own pretty good. I was disappointed at the vehicles tendency to understeer at the limit, it was annoying but controlable which I guess for 90% of the population is a good thing. In low speed corners with a squeeze on the gas I could get into an oversteer situation if I wanted to, but some of the higher speed sweepers there was definately noticable understeer...but overall good package.

Never had a G on a full out track but I've driven them pretty hard, they're an excellent car as well. Nissan has minor transmission issues though with crunches/grinds etc...my Maxima has one now, took it to the dealer no problem its "normal", which is frustrating. G35's/37's have similar issues.

My budget is under $1K (for now). Then again, while I was buying my brake upgrades from Heeltoe, I started adding suspension kits and engine upgrades to my cart but deleted them (I was getting tempted).

BTW: I have a 2006 TSX. I've tried searching for a manual version but there are none in my area with navi. I wouldn't buy a G, Z, or CTS... instead I was looking at a GTI. But I'll wait to add a few more parts.

Basically, when I say something not too "dramatic" I meant I don't want to make it look/sound racy. Something like a BMW... sporty but looks kinda stock (even though some of them aint). I've decided I'll lower it with Tein H-techs to add better cornering. Hondata looks nice as well.

In the end it'll probably be about $2K for a nice little list of parts (hondata, tein, bridgestone RE960AS, brakes). Again, nothing too dramatic. That ought to solve my problem.

Thanks for your input.

if you want to have fun in the car, go suspension. no matter what you do to the TSX engine wise, anything short of forced induction and the car will still be slow. you can't really help how fast it gets up to speed, but it's a lot of fun when you don't have to slow down once you're moving. i'd say coilovers, rear sway bar, lighter/wider wheels, but even if you stay with the stock wheels, change the tires. i recommend Falken RT-615's or Dunlop Direzza Z1 star spec, or Nitto NT05's. i run 255/40/17's religiously on my EVO. next set of tires i get i want to try the NT05's though.

if that's still too borning, buy an EVO IX MR. problem solved.

RSB, shocks/springs, CT Icebox, header, reflash, Aspec kit. not dramatic but effective.

^^ nice!! I want to buy one so badly, but I'd rather put a huge downpayment on a house right now and work on paying it off. If you don't mind my asking, about how much did that set you back?

The bumper doesn't look like it's the same color as the rest. Was it wrecked, or is that just a weird pic?

A house is a much better investment.
It's an 03 Touring, with 30k miles. I just got it for 11k. It does have a few scratches, but I didn't think it was that bad of a price. No accident but, I think the paint just looks funny on the bumpers of gray 350z's.

I gotta agree. House is a much better investment. Shop around, now's the time to do it. I'm closing in about 2 weeks (hopefully) and coming out so far ahead its not even funny. The title company had it appraised and it came out about 80k above the selling price. You just can't get that kind of turn around out of a car.

And Nissan's grey paint sucks, at least on the non metallic parts. My friend's old Altima faded unevenly too. The bumper on it was way lighter than the rest of the car when he got rid of it. He said they all do that. Better than my Neon though. At 5 years old, it had no paint left.

11k for an 03 350z?! damn that's tempting. the way these nissans/infinitis depreciate is pathetic.
