What to buy?

Hey everyone, I'm about to buy a 6spd TSX and have found a couple of options so am curious about everyone's input.

If it were you:
2006 silver/black for $21k w/ 38k miles (acura certified) (4.5 hours away)
2008 black/black for $24.5k w/18k miles (acura certified) (4 hours away)
2008 gray/black (love the color) for $25k w/22k (not certified) (local)

I also had found an private seller '07 with after market euro-r stuff (gray/gray 34k miles for $20k) but I think it's too far away (10 hours).

How much is CPO really worth? I don't really think anything will happen between 50k and 62k miles since it's an Acura and the TSX seems to have few problems (if it were a TL I'd have different thoughts) but I figured I'd post and get opinions. Thanks for everyone's input. I hope to join the ranks this weekend.

The 06 seems overpriced compared to the others. It's a push between the 08's, aside from acura certified. I think if you like the color of the gray, and maybe can negotiate a bit, go get it checked out by an independent mechanic and if it's clean, there you go. They are both under warranty for a long time.

Given those options, black/black is the best. The 06 is way overpriced. The gray/black is also overpriced. The black/black is a little high, but not as badly as the others.

I'd personally go with the certified 2008. I dont think its that much over priced since its an 08

I didn't mention these were all nav so based on KBB they're actually pretty good as far as pricing goes. I agree, relative to others the 06 seems high and not really worth it. I'm trying to decide how much 8 hours of total driving and 500 miles on one car and 250 on the other is worth. Leaning towards the gray even though it's not certified but wanted opinions.

As a general rule, every mile you drive ends up costing you about 50 cents in vehicle maintenance costs, fuel, and general wear on the vehicle. The miles cost you about $375, and the 8 hours it'll take you depends on what your time is worth. $20 per hour? So another $160, which puts the cost of an 8 hour, 750 mile trip at $535. Once you factor that in, both the '08's end up costing you teh same thing, but one is certified (a small perk that could pay off, but nobody knows) and has less miles. The other '08 is the color you want, which may or may not be a big factor. Do you dislike the black, or is it just not your prefered color?

The '07 I would avoid. It's got some aftermarket stuff on it which means it could have had way more aftermarket stuff on it that the seller already parted out. A badly tuned turbo can do alot of damage on an engine that can cause problems even after the stock intake is returned. It's also 10 hours away. For me, that means I'd have to get a hotel room. 20 hours of driving in one day is too much for me.

I'd encourage you to take the long view of things and not base a buying decision on the drive to go get it or short-term costs. When the car has 90K miles on it +/- 250 is noise. Actually the 4K mileage difference in the 08's is noise at that point. If you are going to own this for 3+ years, a day's investment to drive and get it is also noise. A $500 price difference is noise compared to $25K.

Go buy the one you are going to be happy getting into every day. My only caution is if you go for the non-CPO car, check it out or have a mechanic check it.

I agree with pretty much all of this. A couple of years from now, you're not even going to remember what you paid, never mind if it was a good deal or not. I chuckle at the guys that walk away for a few hundred dollars. If the car is what you want, go get it. Maybe fly? Don't know where you're at or where the car is, but it might be an option. Color is a big deal, but I don't know if it's a deal breaker. 6 spds. are rare (so I've heard), so you might have to go with your 2nd or 3rd third color choice. Condition and the deal are more important in my book. Remember that the harder to find manual trans. also can work against the car. They're allot harder to sell, so you may want to keep that in mind (I got burned badly along time ago by buying something I had to practically give away, so I'm probably more sensitive to that than perhaps I should be, but I'll never again buy something that I can't sell pretty easily)(and a 6-spd TSX is allot harder to sell than an auto)(and don't let anyone tell you different, especially a dealer).
Oh, and I think they're all overpriced. Man, you can buy allot of new car for $24.5 these days (and I have two TSX's, an 05 and an 07, and they're among the best cars I've ever owned)(and I've owned allot).

Thanks for everyone's input. I ended up getting the black one last night. Got them to come down some more and the fact that it is CPO made the color less of a deal. Plus, we went and checked out a black one beforehand and thought it was nice so made the drive. Got back really late last night but it was a nice drive on the highway.

first of all, all thoose cars sounds a lil overpriced, i paid $24,000 flat for my 08 tsx with 121 miles at the dealer, the only thing i woulve done differently, if i had the choice, was to get a black tsx instead of silver
