Went to the dealership for many things....

1. Driver side rattle/squeek.
2. Loud road noise at highway speeds.
3. Whistling noise when throttle is lightly applied at highway speeds.
4. "Butt" and "Back" prints on driver seat.
5. E-brake too loose.

They reproduced #1, lubricated the seals for "good will" but blamed the squeeks/rattles on the tints. I don't understand how the tints were causing the rattles, because then all four windows should squeek/rattle.

They reproduced #2 and found damages to the wheel bearings and replaced it under warranty.

They couldn't reproduce #3.

They said #4 was normal wear and tear and could not be replaced under warranty.

They reproduced #5 and tightened the e-brakes according to the Acura specification.

According to one of the techs, many of the TSX's were affected with defective wheel bearings. So here's a heads up to those who may exprience "loud highway noise" with their cars.

Did your "loud highway noise" change tone depending on the type of surface you were on or was it the same tone? I'm really hating the highway noise but, up to now, I've attributed it to the tires. Mine changes depending on the surface (concrete, asphalt ...)

2004 TSX with 27,000 miles.

The front left side had damaged bearings and the noise sounded like there was an aftermarket muffler near my car. Of course at first I wasn't aware of where the sound came from, so I always assumed it was some aftermarket muffler installed in cars behind, side, or in front of me.

And The sound is always the same on all surfaces.

And I have no idea to how the tints caused the rattles. I guess they needed something to blame so I don't take it to them again.

I think #3 is one of the annoying "characterisitics" of the car, but it got me worried when a 7 year old GTI and a 96 Integra made the same "whistling/whining" noise when throttle was lightly applied.

Also, the sound is obvious and most present in 6th gear or the top gears in AT.

iamhomin: Did the wheel bearing noise change when taking sweeping turns left or right? 90% of the time, if the drivers' side wheel bearing is bad, you'll only hear it when going straight, or taking a right-hand sweeping turn. Nothing when turning left (unless it's REALLY busted). Reverse for the passenger side.

The sound was never "different". It carried the same pitch/tone once I hit 40mph+.

Try to rotate your tires to lessen the sound (if it is your tires). Or I could refer you to a thread where someone is selling their Michelins for $500.

i have had my

1) left front strut/suspension replaced, due to leakage

2) driver side plastic molding , the long black piece from back of the roof that extend until the end of the front wind shield, replaced, it broke and came loose

3) windshield rattle which was fixed

i have 20k miles only.. acurs are definitely getting faster and prettier, but quality was not as good as the ones i had 10-12 years ago...i spoke with a mechanic that has been with acura forever, he said the ones acura produce now, quality wise are no comparison to what acura used to turn out....he said it looks pretty , but craftsmanship and quality is going down.........................so sad huh...

Same as Mercedes. Wonder why that is? Technology is supposed to improve things but workmanship, materials & design concepts are not always keeping pace with gadgetries.

If you are unhappy about the leather wear keep B****ing.

I've (and others) have b**** there way into new seat covers under warranty before. Did it with my sister's 02. I have a co-worker that did the same, keep b****ing.

I plan to try another dealer for the squeeks/rattle and leather seats. If they don't do it, I guess I'll keep "b****ing".

It also seems like the more money you spend on a car, the less reliable it is going to be...ass backwards

You would figure all car manufacturers have the same general issues in their industry.

Engine: Its come a long way since the 19th century. Pretty reliable and mostly computer operated.
Tranny: Tweek the gears here and there.
Suspension: Can use more innovation here.
Body: laser cutting and welding. rust resistant metal.
Fitment items: interior materials, electronic gadgets, etc.
Safety: airbags & crash testing

I left out a whole bunch of areas but my point is that for the most part car manufacturers aren't having to re-discover the wheel each time they put a car out. They should be expected to put out a high quality product each time as they've been in doing this for almost a 100 years.

The only reason why you see cars of lesser quality is because the company is skimping somewhere in the process (parts & labor). You would expect that in cars that sell for under $10K but quality problems at $20-50K??? Unacceptable.

It's your ABS doing a self check. It's completely normal.

I thought "ABS self check" happens when car first starts and moves forward.
But he was asking about it "clunking" when wheel-turning.

Mine clunks when I'm turning or moving foward. It sometimes even "clunks" when I'm in reverse.

That's BS. They fixed that same problem on my driver window by lubricating it as well and I didn't even have tint on the car yet.
