VwVortex Poll....
I don't know why the Saab is ahead, look at how busy the dash is. As someone else said over there, it looks cold. It's a draw between the Saab and the Acura on the exterior - the IS300 looks so 1990s. The Saab's trademark grille gets points for being original, Acura's 5-point grille is nice but generic, and it has to share it with Mazda.
"My vote goes by a long-shot for the 9-3 (especially in Vector/Aero trim)."
You don't say Kewl.
I like the Saab, I really do, (well not the interior) if it was'nt so expensive here in Canada I would have really considered one. But utimately I would'nt have bought it as I plan to keep my car for 6 or 7 years and the Saab gives me resale concerns.
I really have to question a car when people are getting it with 6K discounts.
"Also a big thing on the Saab for us was that we got 6k off sticker price for a car with 800 miles" (Veritas137)
Ok, so new cars have a 4-5K discount. But my point is, this car has no chance of even coming remotely close to matching the TSX's resale value. Most people wonder why American cars don't hold their value like the Japanese? Reliability is one reason and 0% financing and 6K discounts are another. Why buy a used Saab when I can get a 5K discount on a new one.
I hope your leasing.

Domn,
I bought my 9-3 and I personally don't give a hoot about re-sale value. With any car I have owned and got rid of I got what I could for it and that was it. It is a non-factor when buying a car. What is most important is the way I feel about the car and whether it fits my budget.

i think the saab is in the lead bc vw owners are turbo ppl. they live with turbos and when u look at it, it makes sense to pick the car that is similar to urs.
is it me or does the back of the saab look similar to the audi.
looks good in my opinion.
93Kewl.....i know the resale value is not important now but when u want to trade it in for a new one, ur gonna feel pretty down.
and ur rite, buy what feels rite for u. hopefully, u'll keep urs for 5+ years.

A couple of years back I had the deal buy back my '94 3000GT SL. He gave me 9K for it and I know I could have gotten at least 13-14K for it. Funny thing is, is was the Acura dealer I got my CL-S from. I didn't want the hassle of private sale.

So in the "Show-Me-The-Money" poll for August the Acura TSX was ahead of the Saab 9-3.
I didn't think I cared about resale value because by the time I disposed of my Saabs (and my prior 'merican iron) they were all "fully depreciated" after 10 years and/or 120,000 plus plus miles.
However, after driving my Saabs into the ground and until the wheels were just about to fall off and nearly having to pay people to take 'em off my hands I was AMAZED to discover that there are people who will actually pay real MONEY for a Volvo with more than 120k miles on the clock!
Hondas and Acuras (and Toyotas and Lexi) seem to hold their value at least as well. So while I might consider my car a clapped-out bucket of bolts at the end of it's life it's still very nice to collect a wad of cash!
I wasn't talking about sales, I was responding to the poll results. The Saab is ahead of the Acura over there.
If anyone's a member over there, suggest that they add the new Volvo S40 to the mix. I'm just curious to see the results...unless someone's ambitious enough to start one over here!

In my opinion, the 93's interior looks great. I'm not sure why so many people view buttons as being ugly or bad. Like I wrote in another thread, if you actually sit in the car, you'll see that the buttons are extremely well laid out, are made of very high-quality soft-touch material, and all perform a very clear function - having a small number of buttons usually means you are folding multiple functions into a single button, which is actually more time consuming and less intuitive (an extreme example would be the idrive). I'm a gadget guy, and to me the 93 interior has the "cool" factor more than any other car in its class. I can understand that each person has his own personal opinion about what makes one interior more attractive than another, but that's all it is, an opinion. For some reason, people here seem to declare that the saab's interior is objectively worse than the tsx's. I appreciate the saab's uniqueness...for those who dismiss it as ugly because it diverges from conventional design, I leave you with this to think about: "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." - Nietzsche

Plus, you just gotta love having 12 memory keys for radio stations! That's 36 stations available! Well, I only need a couple for AM (sports talk and news/traffic). Having only 6 stations for FM1 and FM2 required pressing the FM button to switch back and forth then pressing the desired memory button. Like I said, now that "having" more buttons, I can appreciate the convienence of having it.
I am sure that some here would say the same, if they actually had to use the functional interior of the 9-3. But, oh well, to each his own.

As long as the person behind the wheel likes it, then thats all that matters.
I actually kinda like the IS300's Interior
Not as much as the TSX's but its got that "cool" factor to me.
