The VSA system is just a computer that interfaces with the ABS and DBW to maintain traction. There are yaw sensors to determine which way you're sliding and the VSA will tell the ABS which wheel to brake to straighten the car out.

i see, well i was unaware of that, but thanks. That damn grinding drives me nuts, id rather crash then listen to it.

The sound comes from the ABS modulator in this case. The VSA unit is basically a controller that interacts through the use of software that tells the needed units (whether DBW or ABS) how to interact with the driver input to compensate for the lack of vehicle control. The VSA unit is not a mechanical controller; therefore, it will make no noise.
