Question VSA "Noise"

Is the VSA supposed to make sound when it is kicks in ?

Mine always makes sound whenever VSA kicks in on slippery road - it goes like rapid clik clik clik clik

is this normal ?

that sound is the VSA telling your ABS system which brakes to operate.

Its annoying as hell, sounds like somethings grinding, so i always turn it off. No, its not the ABS.

If your driving around with VSA kicking in all the time, you have issues...

The VSA system is just a computer that interfaces with the ABS and DBW to maintain traction. There are yaw sensors to determine which way you're sliding and the VSA will tell the ABS which wheel to brake to straighten the car out.

it could be your abs ....or it could be traction control....traction control works like abs....its a pulse....so your problay hearing that...and its normal....but you really do have issues if it kicks in all the time...unless you live in the north pole.

that sound is def. your ABS kicking in. That is all the VSA is, just the computer telling your car's ABS when to pulse.

The sound comes from the ABS modulator in this case. The VSA unit is basically a controller that interacts through the use of software that tells the needed units (whether DBW or ABS) how to interact with the driver input to compensate for the lack of vehicle control. The VSA unit is not a mechanical controller; therefore, it will make no noise.
