Cool VSA has a very high tolerance

well, there was an open parking lot with no poles, lights, parking blocks, etc. i went there and had some fun with my tsx. i pushed the car pretty hard in turns and what not. I'm very impressed by handling of this car. The VSA came on only once. i'm sure this has been talked about already, but i just couldn't beleive it. I didn't know how high of a tolerance it had!!! I guess you either have to be pushing the crap out of the car to have the VSA light come on or you are in some real shit when it comes on... but the parking lot was fun!

That's why it is called VSA! Vehicle Stability Assist, not Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).

I think it has a lot to do with weight transfer too, I have had it come on a number of time flying up on-ramps, kinda scary the first time it shut your car down

VSA Is relatively high tolerance but i've noticed it does cut in sometimes without the VSA light going off. I think the light only goes on when the skid control is fired.

ill tell you 1 thing if i had a choice i would opt not to have VSA the system comprimised my braking once during a high speed turn while on the brakes that caused me to wreck my car going over a curb.

vsa tries to keep you from oversteering while on the brakes, this means it puts the brakes on the outside tires and causes the car to go straight.
in acceleration it taps the brakes on the front tire that is spnning, usually the inside one. and also lets off the throttle. i have felt the VSA activate several times in a tight turn and full throttle.

You get the beep when you use the hand brake right? The beep indicates that you have the hand brake on when the car is moving...

It happens when you pull your handbrake while rolling.

I don't mind the VSA yet but the ABS are too f*cking sensitive... Sometime last week, I was stuck in medium traffic, the pavement was dry. All the sudden, the traffic stopped to a halt. I started braking medium hard until I hit a stupid bump. The ABS kicked in for about half to a full second. This cause my braking distance to be longer by at least 15 feet. The ABS took forever to disengage (relatively speaking). Had I been closer to the car up front, I would have rear ended him (this situation occured already at least a douzen of times already). The ABS should be made much less sensitive or they should disengage more quickly...

It's not the first time I get scared sh!tless when braking on rough surface...

I have made the VSA kick in when I accelerated into an S curve and a curving highway on ramp.

That reminds me. When I test drove the Mazda 6 V6, I turned off the traction control and took a highway on ramp that had a pretty decent bend. Just as I came out of the bend I was going 120 km/h.

I think the VSA is more sensitive towards traction while accelerating, but if you throw the car side to side, you'll have to be really out of shape before it kicks in. Which I think is a good thing.

wait... so when VSA comes on, there is no beeping at all? the caution sign doesn't come on? the only way know it comes on is when you feel it?????? I know in the 04' 4runners, they have an indicator that flashes and the car beeps at the dash to tell the driver traction control has interviened

about my avatar: i don't remember where i got it, but it was online somewhere and i just downloaded it.

the beeping sound comes from the handbrake, a light flashes on the instrument panel that tells you when its activated.

The ABS may activate prematurely when you go over a bump while braking because during that split second your wheel locks up while others may still be spinning. This will cause the ABS to kick in as it thinks your front wheel(s) are locked while the rear are still spinning. =/

I thought I noticed it a couple of times before, but thought maybe I had imagined it. Today it did it twice on the way home from work. I'm driving along at about 25 mph (stop and go stoplight traffic). I apply my brakes normally on smooth pavement and the ABS kicks in. It only lasts 1/2 - 1 sec, but I can't figure out why. It's always at the end of braking right before I completely stop. Go figure.... Any ideas?
