Angry victim of a hit and run!!

Hey everyone,

Just to sum it up short, but last night (more like this morning) at 1am my 04' nhb tsx was the victim of a hit and run. Pretty much I was at a friend's house enjoying a birthday dinner with the wifey. I get a message from the neighbor of my friend that some jackass was speeding and swerving down the neighborhood. Just so happen that this car lost control, swerved into my 04' and the pictures shows the end result. The car that did the hit and run, I was told from the neighbors were an older model toyota champagne color. My driver said mirror flies 15 feet away from where my car stands, and the driver's toyota's passenger side mirror breaks off and lands right in front of my car. Fortunately nobody was hurt, my friend's friends were taking a walk during that time and avoided the drunk driver by running onto some other neighbor's grass. Sucks for me since now i gotta pay the deductible for something I did not do at all. oh yeah, fyi if anyone wants to help me be on the lookout for this a$$ of a driver, I live in south Sacramento. Oh yeah not to hate on anybody but I made 3 phone calls from 1am to 245am to the highway patrol for an accident report, not one person showed up to take my report. I ended up driving home due to it being so late already and the wifey's pregnant.

Why do people do it?? Don't drink and drive people!! Thanks for listening everybody.

ps ... having a hard time putting pictures, don't think you guys wanna see the pictures anyways, i certainly dont!!

That really sucks man. Good luck with the repairs. Usually cops take forever when they know that someone isn't hurt. I find it hard to believe too. A whole precinct cannot send two police officers over...how sad.

ouch...that would definitely piss me off. fixing that shouldn't be too bad though. looks like you will need your doors and rear quarter panel resprayed and a new driver side mirror.

sucks dude, but at least no one was hurt. Im in south sacramento too and ill be on the look out for a champagne toyota with no passenger mirror.

The cops didnt come out probably because its a low priority call since no one got hurt and fairly minor property damage. now you can file police reports for minor stuff like hit and run online. just check out sac pd's website. I filed a report when someone broke my mom's car window overnight.
but if its over 500 in damages i think you have to tell the DMV or something but your insurance co. will tell you that.

Police are dispatched according to the particular importance of a call. Most of the time a whole precinct/district (terminology determinant on where you are from) is under staffed. There are times when an entire district may be patrolled by only two officers. There is always the appearance that officers are everywhere, but only a handful actually patrol a given area. Granted, when an area is short staffed others can assist in covering the spread of calls.

Basically, the above is the reason as to why calls are dispatched according to importance. Technically a police officer is not required to make an appearance on the scene of an accident and write a report, unless of course someone is injured. An accident without injury is a low priority call.

messed up

I was a victim too. happened to me like a month ago....sitting in a parking lot at a home depot near my house. came out after making some purchases and someone has smashed the right front of my car....headlight assembly...hood...front bumper, all toast. i had to pay the deductible but it got taken care of. the guy actually lowered my deductible PLUS got rid of all of the other body damage that the car had suffered during my time with it. it looks like a BRAND new car. ill post pics soon of the new and improved. i didnt want to take any of the smashed version. it was too painful. if anyone needs a good auto body shop in the L.A. area, let me know and i will get you the info...they do a GREAT job...good prices too.

find out how much your insurance will potentially increase. If the increase in premium outweighs the 2200 in the long run, just pay out of pocket for the damages. If not, definitely pay via insurance.
