Valvoline Guarantee

So if your engine is before 75,000 and you switch over to valvoline. They'll guarantee your engine till 300,000 miles. Not sure how they'll do any of this but registering can't hurt.

It's "up to 300,000 miles" depending on the type of oil and changing every 3,000 miles.

Even if the engine fails, you'd have to prove the oil was the reason or they'll deny any claim. The gaurentee is essentially useless.

i don't want to sign up for changing my oil every 3,000 miles, especially if i were using the synthetic oil. i'll guarantee right now that my engine will last 300,000 miles - without valvoline's help. but it's a nice marketing tactic to get people back on the 3,000 mile schedule.

Valvoline's words:

"The only claims not covered under the Valvoline program are the result of: collision/accident; fire, water or flood damage; overheating; negligent or intentional damage; timing belt or chain failure; improper service or maintenance; defect attributable to the vehicle manufacturer; improper installation of any part; coolant contamination; or the failure to keep the motor oil and engine coolant at levels prescribed by the manufacturer.
Engine failure means a) the engine will not run, solely due to lubricated engine part and component failures, and b) all other systems and components (such as cooling and exhaust systems) are working properly.
All lubricated engine parts and components (cylinder heads, oil pump, pistons) are covered except for the timing chain. No other components or systems, (such as a turbocharger and supercharger) are covered."

Timing chains are specifically excluded - Since this seems to be one of the K24's weak links (no pun intended) this 'warrantee' is as close to useless as no warrantee at all.

Over and out ...
