Value of 2004 TSX CPO

Hey Guys,

I got my 2004 TSX certified from a dealer in canada 2 days ago.... I feel i may have overpaid now that i've been reading the forums for the past days... I have the option to exchange it for another used/new vehicle within 7 days.... Could you give me your aproximate guess of the value of what I got???

Certified 04 AT 62 000 KM

Bought and maintained at that dealership (All maintenance records available with clean carproof.com report)

Interior / Body / Paint in mint condition

Purrs like a kitten on the test drive and engine sounds amazing at 7k RPM

got comprehensive warranty for 3 years 4 months / 160 000 km

+ GST

^^^ WTF, that makes no sense.

I bought an '04 6mt with about 50k miles last summer for ~$20k when it was all said and done. Might have been close 21, I forget the exact number. I probably could have done better but that was around the price I was aiming for and I was running out of time. I hate haggling over money so I was comfortable with that number and not having to play obnoxious games with the dealer. I don't regret it at all.

Without the price, no one can tell if you overpaid, plus you live in Canada and the price is higher up there anyway to begin with. However, it really doesn't matter at this point. You already bought the car and there's nothing you can do about it now. Might as well forget the price and enjoy the car.

The car was 24.950 with 2 years 4 months powertrain warranty

I negotiated down to 23,200

Paid 1495 to extend the warranty to 3 years 4 month and make it bumper to bumper

+ 1200 taxes (that's unavoidable)
.................................................. .................

Why i ask, is that i have 6 more days to return the car without any fees and get the 2009....

My major debate is did I get it at an OK price... and is it worth it to get the 2009 for roughtly 14000 more??

Well I do know one thing, you got ripped off on the extended warranty. I got mine for 750.

I just purchased an 04 CPO tsx auto with 33,000 for 18,899.

I know the sales game though so I got almost 2500 off the internet price and haggled the warranty down from 1500 to 750.

Just got myself a 6 speed '06 TSX with NAVI from the dealer for $24,300 CAD. Fully loaded, 25500 kilometers on it. Paid an extra $1330 for an extended 6 year/140k bumper to bumper warranty (they gave me loyalty pricing since my dad had purchased a TL from them a few years back). I'm fairly certain I got a heck of a deal.

yea.. you overpaid. You could get a newer one atleast (an 06) and skip the extra comprehensive warranty, Since the 2004's were the only TSXs that had any kind of expensive mechanical problems (A/C).

You payed 26K out the door for a 4 year old car with almost 40K miles on the clock... not good (even for Canada's prices). I assuming you got navi... if not, then you REALLY overpaid.

Then again I could be talking out my arse. Personally, I'd return it and get a newer model (an 06 or 07)

I just paid $23,800 USD for an '07 with 16k miles, + 1100 to extend the warranty to 100k.

6MT--no nav.

Just to add more data... I think it was a good deal, but I'm not 100% sure.

Good price indeed, with low km's too. I got my '05 6 speed with navi for 22,900 and it had 71,000km.

Sounds like you might have been a touch high but from what I've heard of Canadia, it's on par. If you can live with the fact you didn't get the most astounding deal ever, I'd just go with it. I wouldn't say you've been burnt by any means.

Looking at Autotrader, the price seems fair.

Even if you returned it, if the dealership overpriced this car they're likely to overprice what ever other used car you decide on. That 7 day policy isn't there in case you decided you paid too much, its there in case you decide you don't like the car, or there's something wrong with it.

If you can so easily afford to jump up to a brand new '09, I don't understand why you were so concerned about the price in the first place. Whatever, pointless thread.

Thanks everyone, your input was very helpful!

LukeaTron:

The thread is entitled "Value..." of the car, if I have the money or not was never the question... I like the 04-08 TSX and in my area they are very rare and extreemly high on demand... That was the only one available below 30k... So I wanted to know if I was getting good value for my hard earned cash...

Thanks to everyone's input I was able to gather that I paid about 3-4k too much on the car itself and really the 1500$ on warranty wasn't necessary... so that's about 4500-5500$ of money already commited to the dealership that I can no longer get back... So that money already being committed, I came to the conclusion that adding more and getting the 09 would take that 5k that got wasted and put it towards added value...

So if you still feel that this thread was useless... You are intitled to your opinion.... But in my opinion everyone's contribution, including yours, was helpfull.... Thx
