Unhappy US & Canadian Colour selection

Does anyone know why Acura offers different colours for the TSX in Canada and the USA? Why do they not have common North American colours for both countries?

Both countries get:

Nighthawk Black Pearl
Milano Red
Premium White Pearl
Satin Silver Metallic

Canada gets in addition:

Indigo Blue Pearl

USA Gets in addition:

Meteor Silver Metallic
Arctic Blue Pearl
Carbon Grey Pearl

As to why - I have no clue. No doubt marketing research of some kind suggested the different colour choices. It does make sense that there would be more colour choices in the US, as they will sell a lot more cars down there.

Other differences. White in Canada comes with Ebony interior, in US is parchment. Also, there is no quartz interior avail in Canada.

Acura's marketing departments in both countries prolly chose different colors.

The similar European Accord is available in both Arctic and Indigo, two reds (one a dark rich red), a "mist" green, along with white, black, silver, etc.

You could also ask why ; In Australia do we only get 16" wheels on the TSX. Its because Honda Australia think the 17" wouldnt handle having to swerve to avoid all the kangaroos and Koalas on the road, with the 17's
Why dont we get Meteor Silver or Milano Red?? . Because It doesnt go with the red earth we are going to get on our cars when we are swerving to avoid the kangaroos.
Really there is NO logical explanation for all these decisions.
Over here I see that the Toyota Echo has all these great colours, Golds & copper and lavender, etc.
Why dont Acura have them, because they are ULTRA conservative, with EVERYTHING they do.
Why dont the rest of the world see the revolutionary J30A V6 motor ???

Because they are ULTRA conservative.
I am very surprised that they came up with such a hit as the TSX :

Well on road cost for the TSX here is Aus $45000 which at todays exchange rate (at http://www.xe.com) is $29500 US dollars.
We have 10% federal G.S.T (no state tax) so I dont know how that compares to the US price for a TSX.

Does the A$45000 include GST?

With destination, the non-Navi suggested retail is something close to US$26900. The actual negotiated selling price for a non-Navi TSX probably averages between US$26000 and $26500, although some have had better deals than that.

In California, you add sales tax, license registration, doc fee, and a $5 gov't fee. That's all that's required. That would bring the out-the-door price to around US$28500, plus or minus a few hundred.

Some dealerships, however, pull Dealer Extortion Fees (DEF) on customers, only they don't call it that to your face. It's a bogus trumped up charge that they claim is an advertising fee, a regional dealership fee, a preparation fee, etc. I should open a new message thread about that farce. Other dealers trump up the doc fee, normally about $50. The Dealer Extortion Fee is for all of that very expensive pen ink they consume to write up the sales contract. In other words, it is pure profit and nothing else. It often negates the negotiated deal you thought you had worked out.

You need to make it clear from the onset that you do not pay any extra dealer fees.

How'd this thread go from colour choice in US s. Canada to a price comparison report? You folks digress...
Anyways..I am kinda pissed that us Canadians don't get the quartz interior choice , or the Carbon Grey metallic. I already know I will be getting an '05 TSX in November (for 40th Bday!) so I hope by then that a couple more enhancements in performance or oprions come along and more colour choices by then would be great too. We can't even get Black on Blck. the Black on parchment combo sucks in my opinion!

I have an Artic Blue Pearl TSX which you Canadians don't have.:P

Other than that, notice how Honda of Canada doesn't have green colors for cars....i.e. Civic, Accord, and TL. Why is that?

I have relatives in Toronto and Mississauga and I go there all the time.

Perhaps the Acura folk in Canada were imbibing decriminalized marijuana? Decisions on colours is consistent with this hypothesis.

No NAVI in Canada!

I was talking to Dealer again today..and also to my bloody amazement .CANADIANS DO NOT GET NAVI OPTION for TSX...aaarrrgghhh! (however in a TL we can get it???) Where is the sense in all this. I've decided I'm going to contact one of the higer up folks in Acura Canada to find out what gives. That's fine if they want to dick around with colors, etc, but don;t touch my NAVI! I want answers!
