Urgent Comptech Short Shifter Install Question

So I am nearly finished removing the center console out from the car. I am at the step in the Neuspeed instructions where you slide the center console away from the dash and lift out, but I can't get it to slide back. Should I be using a lot of force for this? I also did not remove the Not an Ashtray since it wasn't mentioned in the neuspeed instructions, is that OK?

you need to remove the not an ashtray box because the bottom screws hold the center console down. remove the not an ashtray box then lift up on the back under the armrest on the floor of back seats (you know where the console sits on the hump) and pull back.

there are screws under the armrest (pull the rubber mat out) and unclip the emergency brake boot clip. You come up over the gear shift and back.

another question...Is the short shifter supposed to "click" onto the stock shifter. When I put it on the stock shifter and tightend it, it seemed loose on the stock shifter

yeah it'll make a little "clicking" sound. Make sure you put the loctite on there before you put it on, then screw the lil hex bolts in tight and equal. Done deal. If you need help getting the lil white ball on the end, put vasolene on the comptech end, then vasoline inside the white ball, heat the ball with a hair dryer and it'll slide on like butter

so far i have to say that I love this mod. the shifts are MUCH shorter. I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this mod.

the install was a little painful though. I did end up having one problem that I am going to have to fix later on. The lightup for my heatup seats are not working. The orange lights when they are turned on work, but the backlights when my headlights are on do not come on. Anyone have any ideas as to why they aren't turning on???

BTW, thank you to all who commented on this post and previous posts regarding the short shifter install. Definitely made it a lot easier to install. I did not enjoy the comptech instructions whatsoever.

^^that was the first thing I tried. I took out the harness and put it back in. could it just be a loose wire since the heated seats work?

^^That is a known issue with the bulb. The dealership should replace it for free. It is a simple bulb that you could replace on your own if they balk at it. I can send you the info if you are going to do it yourself.
