Here's the deal... my girlfriend has a TSX, I think like a 2005 or 06. The navigation software on it is ancient, and needs to be upgraded.

She told me that the guy at the dealer told her that it was a hardware thing. Like she needed a chip installed or something. So I did some searching online for her, and found a bunch of DVDs for the navigation system, on ebay and whatnot. I now find the claim that a hardware upgrade is necessary to be dubious.

Is this as simple as ordering a DVD and installing it, or is it possible that she needs a chip?

Also, she isn't particularly tech-savvy, but she's smart enough to figure stuff out. I won't see her for a couple weeks, but if we ordered this DVD, is it as simple as her just putting it in the player and letting it do its thing?

Just talked to her. Her car is an '07. Not sure what software she has.

I would just look to see what city you live in. If it hasn't been updated then I wouldn't worry about buying another dvd.
