Uneven Brake Wearing Chicagoland

I have a 2005AT, and it has about 45K miles on it.

I took it to Woodfield Acura after several bad experiences at Ed Napelton.

I figured that it needed some brake work as i noticed a slight vibration in the steering wheel when slowing down.

They are telling me that the front brake pads are at 80percent, but the rear break pads are shot completely.

I have never had pads replaced on either front or back.

With all the computer technology in this car it doesn't seem normal.

Can any give any insight on this?

Thanks,

Ryan

The rear pads on the TSX do wear faster than the fronts, but it shouldn't be that different. Maybe a 20-40% more life on the fronts, but that's about it.

Good to know, your right it seems like there would not be that much difference. Would this indicate any problems elsewhere?

I am taking my car to Mullers Woodfield Acura tomorrow for a full Brake Job.
Get this.... For 4 Rotors and 4 Pads from Acura they want to charge me $2,300!!!!! (with install)
So I brought 4 RacingBrake UP Rotors with ET500 Pads and SS Brake lines for $630.
Mullers said they would install em for $400. (I rather have my brakes professionally installed rather than have a friend do it)
So in the long run I save $1,200 and get a hella lot better stopping power.
I will ask them to measure the wear difference between the front pads and the rear.
It is true the pads in the rear do seem to wear quicker than the fronts, but in your case (quinnsat) that seems extream. Ill let you know tomorrow.

No I did not call any other dealers, I figured if thats the price at one Acura dealership than it would prob. be the price at others. Justa good reason to upgrade the brakeS. I have never changed rotors or pads yet, I'm at 45K.

Quinnsta....
Just got back from Mullers. My TSX has 45K and they told me I had 3mm on the rear and 6 mm on the front. They did confirm the reason the rear pads wear quicker is due to the fact that the rear pads are not as thick as the fronts. This still doesnt solve the issue your having, sorry.
As far as the brake upgrade...WOW.
Initial bite is awesome and the pedal is much more firm. Highly recommend.

When I have to replace all 4 at once i may consider this but so far it doesn't seem like that will ever be the case with the tsx it looks like it will keep going back and forth.

I am working with ray over there what advisor do you work with.

So did you replace your pads yet? When I had my vibration I asked the to cut my Rotors....Vibration gone.

I work with Kim, she seems to know her stuff prety well. I'd say I know a lot about cars and every time I'm in there shes never bullshited me on anything I've asked her.

They are cutting the back rotors and giving new rear pads. I am pretty sure that that will fix the problem.
