turning radius questions

For those of you who know cars better than I (that is, most of you):

What is the limiting factor in the steering radius/turning circle of a car? Why is any car built with a 40 foot turning radius?? At first I thought it was possibly due to the car's FWD nature, since the 2 FWD cars I've had have both had crappy turning radii and the 1 RWD car I owned had a tight one. BUT our other FWD car has a pretty tight radius.

Anyone have any insight?

not an expert neither, but i think it's due to the big tires the TSX has? not sure though

it has a lot do with how the suspension is set up in cars. Usually, cars with double wishbone suspension, such as the TSX, have wide turning circles. i think.

due to the wide tires the tsx has, its turning radius is horrible.
u will know once u parked in a small parking lot. even though the car is small, its like moving a truck.

...but, it's A LOT better than the current TL.

(The new TL? We'll have to see. BTW don't assume you can tell anything from the spec, which I think is 39.5.)
