turn on car with button?

hmm... i know i must sound crazy... but is there any way to make car turn on itself with the push of a button? or better yet just entering the car? e.g. the cadillac xlr turns on with the push of a button... as long as the "key fob" is in the car.

obviously a remote start can turn on the car.... but they shut off the car if you do not put the key in the ignition...

any ideas? anybody done this?

thanks

I think the new Infiniti M35 will be the cheapest car on which that kind of thing will be standard. It will trickle down to even cheaper cars in a few years. It's difficult to retrofit something like that because of the systems in place in the current car and the way most of them work in the new cars.

Only seems to come up in IE not FireFox browser.

You will always need the key since that is tied to the ECU.

Seems like a lot of hassle for a gadget of questionable value.

well here is what i am thinking at the moment.... and yes we all know i am crazy but aside from that...

i can put a remote starter with the alarm.... and use the fob from the remote to unlock/disarm the system... and using a push button... under the dash would turn on the car, but without putting the key in the ignition

as far as worrying about somebody stealing the car... if the car is broken into the alarm would disable the ignition...

in addition to this, the viper systems have gps telematics if i am not mistaken... and has the remote started/alarm etc built into it...and can be tracked by satellite and can be shutdown also...

so i would be able to turn on my car with the button and still not worry about it being stolen

but why. and you are going to run into a lot of trouble starting the system without the key because of the immobilizer system.

just for show...

and you are talking about the factory oem immobilizer right? it has to be bypassed for the remote start to work correct? and my understanding is that you have acopy of the key in a box which sends the rf signal from the key to the ignition...

thx
