TT or TSX?

thinking about trading in my 06 tsx w/nav for a 2001 audi tt convertible with 110,000 miles for 15k. still in amazing condtion, i was suprised about the condition personally. my parents are making me sell my car, since ive gotten 2 tickets in this one, and they think its too expensive for me at this age. what car do you think i should get under 16k?

Beg them on your hands and knees to let you keep your TSX...

are you serious? if your getting tickets in the TSX, you will definitely get tickets in the TT. besides, as nice as they look, they will fall apart when the glue dries. A friend of mine went your route and ended up with an ever-growing repair bill.

Tell your parents you are going to put a governor on your engine so you can't speed.

Solution:

Keep the TSX and add a Valentine 1 / K40 laser diffuser.

No more tickets...

i bet that TT is the one my friend had so many problems with....beautiful to look at, even fun to drive. but he had sooooo many problems and spent sooo much money on an out of warranty audi. He did put in a kick ass stereo system, though. so you can crank up the sound and drown out the rattles.

High mileage Audi for the loss. It's not a good idea to buy an Audi with such high miles.

Your parents sound as smart as you. The price of a car has no bearing on how you drive.

Solution: apologize to your parents and stop speeding. It is not hard to watch your speed....even going 5 over the limit in most cases will not get you a ticket.

Man, 16 and you got an 06 TSX. Lucky bastard. If i was your parents and you got two tickets already, yet you want a TT, i'll say "you smoking you cracking?" and get you drug tested.

Stop speeding fool. Speeding in a TSX.

What makes you think your parents will pay for a car that probably will cost more in insurance, which is already high enough from your reckless driving.

sounds to me like they found a great excuse for a lower payment. good luck with the TT....beautiful design, questionable reliability.

I still don't understand how a TT is going to make you slow down or get less tickets. It has everything to do with the way you drive, not the car....

If it's anything like my friend's A4 you won't have to worry about speeding tickets b/c you'll be driving to the shop at 30mph when the tranmission refuses to shift above 2nd or into reverse...

oops, almost forgot, this has happened to her 4 times now, with 120k on the car.

that's hilarious but so wrong. Tons of parents these days feel the need to buy cars like this for their kids because while they were growing they didnt have such luxuries. Anyways..just slow your ass down or you'll end up in a civic..You'll need 5 jobs to afford the maintenance on the TT .

You should get a used Prelude or 99-04 Accord coupe

Mark my words when I become a parent I wouldn't buy my 16yr old a new car, by then my 14 yr old TSX will suffice.

You can't get ticket if your TT is in the shop all the time. Your parents are genius.

dont u think its a little early to decide that... i mean what if ur kid turns out to be a responible child that would be able to handle a new car and is deserving of a new car? i think in that case i would gladly buy my kid whatever car he/she wants as long as i can afford it.

if not i agree with u... a 14year old TSx will suffice.

They only way to describe this situation is DUMB. I think the parents and the "what do you expect me to do with a new $30K car that loves to go 80 mph" child need a major infusion of common sense.

This whole "problem" that they're having is jusy plain dumb. I won't even mention the TT with 110 miles on it. That's just stupid.

i really dont appreciate people making fun of my family, go ahead and dog on me as much as you want; but seriously, there is a line that you just dont cross. they believe that getting me a cheaper car that i have to take care of more, will show me more responsibility.

Responsibility? Try "not speeding" and maintaining a clean record and saving your parents some money. That's a good responsibility to start with.

Obviously your parents have severely over-estimated your intelligence.

Which is why I agree w/ 04EuroAccordTsx. I you had pay, or at least help pay, for your car and definatly your insurance, you would not be speeding. As a judge once told me he could fine me a little bit for speeding, but the insurance company is who is really going to punish me.

Or you can take care of the one you have and learn to slow down. Wouldn't you rather have a newer car than an older one with a lot of potential problems? At 16, somehow I don't think you have the money to pay for maintenance on an Audi with so many miles on it. Your parents were kind enough to give you a brand new car, you should be thankful for that and take good care of it so it lasts you a long time.

If speeding is your issue, then a TT could very well make it worse, not better.

In any case, if you're set on it, be sure you give the repair records a good looking over. I think (but am not 100% sure) that all 2001 TT's were turbocharged and no A/T was available, so if the turbocharger and clutch are original, they may be on their last leg, etc.

I own a 2001 Jetta 1.8T -- same motor as the TT but slightly detuned, only 150 hp -- and I drive like a bat out of hell. The TSX is faster (well, the manual TSX is), but VW's (and Audi's) feel fast, which doesn't help with your lead foot.

What makes them think that you won't get tickets in that TT?
