TSX vs. Jeep Cherokee

Been a while since I've posted, but I thought you'd all like to know how much damage a 96 Jeep Cherokee can do to your TSX when you've stopped and the Jeep forgets to.

Insurance guy came by yesterday and total so far looks like its around $7,500 and perhaps 2 weeks of body work time...Other guy has to pay for it all, so I "should" be OK...
-Uni-body
-Rear deck
-Bumper
-Rear Left tire
-Whole friggin' back end
-My dignity...

DAMN!!!

That's a whole lot of damage. Stupid people who don't pay attention when they drive...they oughta be dragged out to the streets and their licenses burned while they watch.

Hopefully you are ok. The car can be fixed. What excuse did the Cherokee driver have for this?

How fast was he going?

Your car crumpling and taking the force of the impact is a good thing

Well, on the plus side, your trunk should provide all the downforce you could ever need.

Sorry to hear about that. Any whiplash?

It was at 6pm three nights ago and I was probably 15 cars back from a major intersection that had just turned green for our way of traffic when everybody did the ol' GO->BRAKES!->GO A LITTLE BIT MORE->BRAKES! when I looked behind me and saw the guy looking up at the light that had just turned green and NOT at my back end...then BAM!

No whiplash; just sore necks. The wife has increased her whiny factor though, but I'm pretty sure she'll be OK. I'm now forced to drive a 99 Audi A4 for the forseeable future...can you say 4 feet of clutch play?

Glad you're all okay. I was also in an accident about 2 weeks ago (front end) and still haven't gotten my car back. I actually saw it yesterday - the whole front end torn down and no windshield. It's almost done they're just waiting for the dash pad to arrive. I'll ask the $ amount of damage when I get her back. Best of luck!

Ouch... sorry about the car, but at least you are okay and it sounds as though this won't cost you a dime.

Looking at the pictures, I am interested to know what kind of license plate frame you are using on the back end... it looks like chrome, but it is much thinner (border-wise) than the others I have seen.

BTW, Colorado rules! Plus, I think CO license plates (designer) are the best looking plates in the US.

If you are still sore 2 days after the accident don't sign anything to release the other guy's responsibilities.

It's a good thing the TSX absorbs a lot of impact.

iamhomin, who's glad both corona and his wife is okay.

There were plenty of scracthes on the rear quarter panels where they popped out against the upper-rear pillars on both sides. We haven't been asked to sign any release of responsibility and the wife and kids have all seen the doctor and were given some Flexeril for their sore necks...and that all went on the other guys insurance...who just happens to have my same insurance (USAA), so it has all gone fairly smooth so far...

Thanks for the advice...you guys are great...
