tsx vs g35c

currently a proud owner of a cg auto tsx. but at 19 years of age the lack of power is becoming more apparant as time passes. so my question is... is the g35c as great as it's made out to be value-wise? when it comes to the exterior i personally like the g35c better and it is also a lot more eye-catching and the powertrain is without a doubt sweet. but there seems to be a lot of controversy concerning the cheapness of the 03-04 interiors anyone who has personally driven, riden, or owned both cars i would like to know your thoughts on an interior comparison of both cars and if the g35c engine is as great as it is made out to be. thanks. btw tsx will go to my mother and her camry will be traded in for a used 04 g35c auto or manual hopefully. the 2 perfect cars in my garage .

You live in Hawaii and the power of the TSX isn't enough?

When was the last time you needed to take a 10 hour trip across country (oops, across the island) at speeds in excess of 80 MPH? How many times have had to deal with steep mountain slopes? What is the top speed limit on the island? What are you currently paying for gasoline?

Regardless of location, it's the short thrills people are always seeking.

So uh....blazed, go with the G35c, you won't be dissappointed. As for the interior, it's a grade down from the TSX, but it's not horrible.

This lack of power thing is really starting to stick in my craw. How fast do you want to go on public roads? This car is plenty quick for passing, for getting up hills, for the twisties. So you can't blow past the 350Z big deal. I have a small penis so I know the power trip is not about that but come on guys appreciate what you have.

Also - Do not forget the terrible gas milege for the g35. Alot of people often forget to mention this.

Nothing wrong with wanting a little more power. That's why I'm getting Hondata
But blazed, get the G35C; and if you can, consider an '05 cuz the interior has been somewhat upgraded (still not as nice as the TSX).

Yes - If you have money to BURN, get the G35c. Overall, you'll spend more money for gas and overall total cost of ownership. Its always good to have more power and money to burn if you got it. If your daily commute involves alot of traffic lights and a speed of 55 to 65 miles per hour, having more power when you don't get a chance to use it is wasteless. If your doing highway driving that consists of 65 to 85 miles per hour then go for. The choice is yours.

I had a G35 sedan 6MT 2003 before I bought the TSX. Unfortunately I was involved in an accident and the car was a total loss (it is a very safe car, believe me, people were amazed that I got out of the accident with only a bruise from the seat belt).

I didn't want to spend more than what the insurance co. settlement was, so the TSX w/NAV was a perfect fit (I basically got about 5K less than what I bought the car for) . There are only 3 things I thought could be improved on the G35:

- I didn't care much for the orange-lighted dashboard (TSX is better)
- The back seat do not split (but they do recline)
- Gas mileage (but considering the power...)

I didn't have any issues with the interior styling. I liked the seats, the leather, the color.

Anyway, just my

BUT a little too much hp can be lethally dangerous in the hands (or under the right foot) of someone who says things like "at 19 years of age the lack of power is becoming more apparant as time passes" :shakehead

Too many innocent people have been seriously hurt or killed by inexperienced (not necessarily young though) drivers driving cars with too much power for them to handle

So blazed54, it's really cool if you/your family can afford you a G35c but don't be overcome by hp under the hood. Just be sure to be a responsible driver and use the hp responsibly.

The interiors of the 03-04s are a little on the cheap side. They revamped it a bit for 05 with better materials. But, who buys a sporty car to stroke the dashboard all day? Gas mileage is only as bad as you make it. Drive normally and you will get good gas mileage. Rev it up to 5500 at every stop light and you will pay for it.

Yes, totally agree. The point of me getting higher hp or torque is so that I won't get tailgate or hit just because my car didn't have the power to climb up even on a 3 degree hill... (it dropped at least 10 km/hr when going up) and I can go smoothly with the normal traffic. Car that is too slow sometimes might cause accident; but a car that is too fast has much higher possibility of causing accident.

+1
Definitely. With great power comes great responsibility... Oh wait, that was Spiderman.

The G35C can be dangerous in the wrong hands. Blaze, if you do end up getting the car. Spend some time with it to learn how it handles. Don't go balls out in your first drive. Like 05_TSX_GP said, just make sure that you're careful.

But G35C aside, I'm getting Hondata not for peak power, but for a nicer powerband. Driving 5AT with the DBW sucks in this car. Sometimes you punch it, and the car will sit for 1/2 a second to a full second before it reacts, which can be dangerous when trying to merge.

I do agree that the TSX should have a little more power. I have an Acura Legend right now which has 200hp and is a V6. The Legend feels more powerful after test driving the TSX yesterday. It seems like the TSX is a more rev happy engine, and to be able to get more power, you have to make use of the upper RPM range. In the car I was test driving, I was up in the 5000 rpm range in 1st and 2nd gear using SS and it just didn't seem like it was as fast as my Legend, but maybe that's just me. Anyways, my 2 cents.

V6 and I4 have, by laws of physics, very different characteristics in making torque - which is what you feel as "more powerful" in the 200hp V6 compared to the 200hp I4.

I personally love the high revving nature of Honda's DOHC iVTEC (and even the older DOHC VTEC)

Man... when I was 19, if I had that type of power from a G35c, I bet I wouldn't be alive now since I drove like a complete maniac. If you get it, just be careful. Remember, you have a lot of years ahead of you, so don't cut them short by getting crazy.

But hey, I would've wanted a G35 at 19 also.

Supra Turbo was what I wanted when I was 19

Though I'd add that lives of other innocent drivers and people on the streets are risked by complete maniac drivers. So please never, never forget that. This really goes for everybody, not directing this to any specific person here

I started out with a TSX and now i have a Nissan 350z. The power is definitely something that will make you happy, but keep in mind, everytime i drive my 350z, i still miss the quality and finish of the TSX's interior. I love both cars though. If i could have the power of the 350z in the TSX, id be one happy camper.

I'll sort of second that, except my first car was a '67 XKE Roadster I bought for myself when I graduated college ...way back in '72. I almost killed myself in that car a couple times but lucked out and never hit anything/anyone. As I got older, I learned how to drive and also how to better control my need for speed.

So for nice relaxing, comfortable cruises with the family in a quality made, good handling car, we take the TSX; don't get me wrong, I think the TSX is an adequately peppy fun car as is and you can make anything faster if you want. When I want to take it to a track in my well made, quality powerful car I use my Supra Turbo. The rub is, it's never enough power if you have the bug ...my measly 500+hp will soon have to give way to more power so it's all relative.

Btw, if any of you who want to enhance your driving ability and/or have a blast driving on road courses under somewhat controlled, save conditions under the guidance of trained instructors, look up high performance driving events, HPDE or DE days at most local race tracks. Learning that stuff can save your life too. Not to say something can't go wrong, people crash at these events, but if you don't push beyond your capabilities, you will learn how to handle your car much much better and the streets will be safer for it.

yeah.. who dont like pwr? i do but first of all no matter what, the G35 with navi will cost me 7k more than the tsx, so in monthly pymts.. is 130 or so per month more than tsx navi .. plus more gasoline expense.. i drive 30k a year. this means at 2.50 a gallon .. is higher now..
will cost me 70 or more a month than tsx for 200 more to drive g35? 200 x 60 is.. 12k... and more insurance on top.. is too much green cash.. for that i can get another civic.

I have both. My wife drives an auto 04 G35c and power/handling-wise the tsx can't compare. The G35 interior is fairly cheap and unimpressive to the point that everytime I drive/ride in the car I try to focus on the performance aspects!

And nothing wrong with having a powerful car on an island. Don't hate because you can't go to some of the nicest beaches in the world year-round!

If I commuted via car during the week to my job I might have went with the TSX (Better Mileage, FWD for snow).
