TSX Turbo
Hi, everyone. I'm a Japanese Accord Wagon fan living near Tokyo.
Today the Japanese car magazine "Car Top" says that TSX turbo will be exhibited as a show model in Tokyo mortor show which will be held this autumn.
This engine is the same as New Acura RDX, they say.
They say this is scoop. But is it true ?

Although I fear the sticker price already. Turbo TSX will probably be $40K up here.

I'm sure the turbo will be an option anyway. The standard 2.4 will remain.

What are the two most common complaints about Turbo's?
- Lag
- Reliability

I think a properly sized ball-bearing turbo with water-cooled housing should take care of those problems. There are just not that many moving parts in a turbo. Besides, a factory turbo setup most likely would have the appropriate internal build-up, as well as the ECU programming to handle the boost. It's not like throwing an aftermarket turbo on an engine made for NA with a stock ECU.

Factory turbos are quite reliable.

I think I would wait until the 2nd or 3rd model year so Honda could get the bugs worked out of the turbo setup, not to mention that no Honda tech has experience working on a Honda with a factory turbo.

If honda goes the turbo route I have no doubt they will do it in the right way -- meaning a nice twin scroll or electronically controlled waste-gate setup which goes a long way towards eliminating lag.
