TSX thoughts

hey, im new on new but i have been reading around to find out more about the TSX. I have a few questions that i wanted to ask you guys since you guys already own one. Well in about 2 months im getting my driver license and get to get a used car. Well right now i drive a benz ML450. I really like the tsx because of its looks and because its an acura. Well i think my buget is like somewhere around 20,000 grand and i seriously cant find anything in my area. I was looking at the 06 models with navi and those are like 25ish. I heard that at the end of the year most dealerships will lower the prices to get rid of the 06 models and make room for the new 07's... do you guys think that i can find a 06 with navi for around 20,000 next year? oh also when is the 07 coming out?

I think the 04 non-navi's are around 22k-25k, so I don't think the 06 navi will drop that low for at least 3 or 4 years...

You have to realize that Acura has a high resale value. If you buy a brand new ford and an acura at the same time, wait one year, and try to sell it...you'll find that the acura is still worth alot, while the ford has depreciated quickly. Getting about $10k off a 1-year old car would be quite impossible, unless if the car was salvaged.

If you are still waiting a year, you should save up more money. In one year's time, you should have quite a bit more than 20k.

the cheapest you can probably find a brand new 06 for right now is around $27,000, so I don't think it'd be possible to get it for $25,000 even... $27,000 is already rock bottom price bc MSRP is around $30k....all this is assuming w/ Nav of course....you can get non nav for roughly $25k lowest....

If you currently drive a benz ML450 then should an extra $5-7K really be a big deal to you (or your parents). You might as well pay the extra few thousand and get a new '07 TSX.

They're not dropping the prices that low any time soon.

You have nothing to worry about. The '04s are barely 20k yet (I've seen mostly ~23k).

...on a learners permit, driving with his parents...

either way, I wish i could've afforded anything remotely as cool as a TSX when I was 16... A 2-3 year old TSX sure beats my first car: a 10-year old 1983 Chrysler New Yorker! (not the boat, the souped up K-car look-alike, with the 2.6 litre 4 cylinder that must have mustered something like 110 hp)

Congrats. You should enjoy the luxury of a 6x5 later in life. We have a few free spaces here at the Lebanon Correctional Facility if you'd like to just avoid the future onslaught of court cases you'll cost us all.

Seriously a bonehead (16 yr old) move and not because we're worried about you doing this, but we're more worried about the other innocent legal drivers you come into contact with.

I have said it before. Most lessons can be taught, but certain lessons must be learned... the hard way.

You might think differently if you get caught and are not allowed to get your license for a year because of your stupidity. I can't believe your parents allow this.

To try to not flame, grab an 04 w/navi TSX with high miles for around 20 and feel happy you've got a great car.

To go another route, try to get your hands on a slightly used rsx-s, for pehaps even under 20k.

Or if your parents were sane, they would find you a nice Volvo 850 wagon with 200k miles and as much engine sludge as possible so you couldn't speed.

Thus, enjoy the luxury afforded to you by your nice economic status and not exactly protective parents.

HAHAHAHA......

But seriously kid (not that i'm a huge amount older) driving around with just a permit by yourself is VERY dumb! You will have a HUGE consequence if you get caught doing so. You may think your invincible, but believe me, you are DEF not!!

Also, you say you have 20k to spend, is that a price limit your parents said they would spend on a car for you? (WOW if it is.....i still like my 1989 Z24 Chexy Cavalier with no AC and a dead transmission i had up until 5 months ago when i got my new baby )

Edit: Seriously though, tell them to give you 25k, and you will work to pay the 5 k back IF you really want a lower mileage newer TSX. Can't beat a 5k interest free loan

Now now there, no need for the flaming. What he does with his license or lack thereof is none of your guys's buisness. Lets try to keep the comments related to the question at hand, all other issues aside. He came here for advice, and i doubt the unasked opinions of anonymous people on the internet will change his driving habits .
In my advice, i agree with Jwood, go find a newer TSX for over $20k and tell them that you'll work to pay the difference. As long as you argue your point logically and agree on a way to pay them back, i see no reason why they would say no.

Ummm - WRONG, he is all of our business and his disrespect of the law. Just what we need is another menace to our already deteriorating society.
