TSX - Third best residual value, behind S2000 and Mini Cooper

According to Edmunds.com

Based on the percentage of car's original value that each vehicle is likely to retain after five years with an annual mileage of 15,000 - using Edmunds' True Market Value (TMV) calculation method.

1. 2006 Honda S2000 — 51.7%

2. 2006 Mini Cooper — 51.5%

3. 2006 Acura TSX — 47.7%

Nice. Damn good news to those of us who are eagerly awaiting the model change and possible turbo, sh-awd, etc. to upgrade to.

Just curious as to why the TL and the Accord aren't on that list too.

Using $30K as the baseline that means after 75K miles and 5 years of use your simple out of pocket cost (not factoring in future value v. present value for you finance majors out there) is about $250.00 a month or less than $10.00 a day. Talk about a performing assest. Not to bad guys!

I wonder if a new turbo/awd model would hurt or help the residual value of the current line. My first thought was that it would hurt, especially those that appreciate the extra power. Who knows though: if the price goes up enough, it could actually help. People may think, "I could pay $20k for a used one or $35k for a new one".

90% of TSX drivers I see are late 40's (both men and women), who probably don't give a rats ass about SH-AWD, turbo, etc... so I'd think we would be fine in switching to the "new" TSX and selling this w/o losing a lot of $$ because of that.

15,000 miles a year? Damn... I'll probably have 20,000 miles TOTAL after five years.

Well, then, your residual should be even better.

My guess is that another factor relating to the TSX's good performance residually is that there aren't many of them on the road when compared to the numbers of TL's and Accord's out there.

Yeah, I'm at nearly 10K and I got my '06 with 9 miles on it back on Jan 30 of this year.
