TSX Switchblade Key Cost?

I've been thinking about getting a switchblade key for my 2004 TSX:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...Q5fAccessories

I called the local dealer and they said they weren't sure if they could do it (they'd have to see the key first) and if they did do the cut and reprogramming, it would cost $111+.

Anyone have this service done, if so, is the cost sound about right?

Thanks.

I purchased one several months ago and am satisfied with the product. Finding a local place that deals with cutting, programing was a hassle (and costly). If possible order from heeltoeauto.com like many others for ease of mind.

Recently started looking into a used casing on ebay due in part to the awkward placement of the panic button and its slanted position. However, to defend the product; if your not picky and want to go the slightly cheaper route go for it. Although if you do go this route, I recommend looking into this thread for even greater savings though at the expensive of time: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-2004-2008-124/diy-guide-tl-switchblade-key-60-photos-671520/

By the way, ended up going to the acura dealer, ace, home depot, lowe, walmart, and finally found a local lock smith which was able to program and cut for $35. Wasted gas and time, but in my opinion worth the experience though not worth redoing over again.

My local dealer (SF Bay Area) was offering a switchblade key (or sidewinder key as they called it) for $195, which included the key fob, cutting and reprogramming of all of your existing keys.

I might have paid a bit more, but I like that it comes with a one-year warranty and is backed up by the dealer if there are any problems.

One stop shopping saved me a lot of hassle, too. And mine does have the seat memory function enabled, plus the unlock/windows feature.

Which dealership did you get this done at? And does the 195$ price cover all three keys that came with the car?

I bought the same key from the same seller as samnguyen and it works great. Local dealership cut and programmed the key for $19.99. Any dealership that says they can't or aren't sure if they can just tell them it's the same FCC frequency and tell them to try it and you should be good to go.

Hey would this key work for a 2003 CL? The remote looks exactly the same. The FCC id from my current remote is the same one that is listed on the ebay page as well. Also, what does the memory seat function do?? The key that is being sold apparently doesn't have the memory seat function.

the cl key blade and the flip key's blade looks the same to me. Will the flip key's blade fit into my 03 CL's ignition?

Key with remote from ebay

I purchased a key with remote buttons (not the flip) from artiway on ebay. I think it was about $40 including shipping. I called around and found Armen Lock LLC in Gaithersburg, MD 301-963-8100. On the phone they were initially concerned about the quality of an aftermarket key. Once they saw it they thought that the case was better than many they had seen (not as good as oem, of course) and they were convinced that the electronics were oem or identical to oem.

They programmed the key quickly and allowed me to bring my second set and valet key back (a few weeks later) , all for the cost of $55. That is programming and cutting the key as well as making the doors and trunk buttons work.

I think the quality of the artiway key is OK, does not seem as solid as what I would expect from oem, but I got the whole deal for under $100, which was about all I could justify to myself.

I think Armen was great and easy to work with and would recommend them to anyone.

FRED
