TSX stolen on a TV show

Whats up guys!

So, today I was doing some studying then took a break and decided to watch some TV. As I flipped through all the channels I ended up on the discovery channel. One of the cooler shows on that channel happened to be on at the time, some of you may be familiar with it, It Takes A Thief. The guy broke in to some peoples house, then put all his stuff in his get-away Jepp Commander. Then the neighbor that was watching it all came over and took the thiefs keys out of the Jeep and lokced all his stolen merch in it. So then the thief quickly realized he was screwed so he grabbed the keys to the poor peoples car in their garage, which just so happened to be a 6MT NHB TSX with silver star wheels and the oem body kit. He backs out of the garage, over the curb and slams it down on the street then burns out as he takes off. Later when he returned everything, the owner said the TSX was worth over $40,000!!! Thought this was pretty funny to see our beloved car....stolen.

That better have been in Canadian dollars because that somebody is just insane. I do not see how you could option it up to even reach that price.

When my dad bought me my TL last August I saw an A-Spec TSX for $40g or a little higher... that's so crazy. That's the same price as my TL!

Sebo, your TSX looks good. No doubt about that. I was merely pointing out that paying $40K is not as outlandish as the OP made it sound. Besides, if we start adding the cost of the mods that some of us do to the TSX the total price tag starts heading north in a hurry.

exactly. i won't mention any names but there are people here who probably spend $15k or more in mods.. so dont see a big deal in paying $37-40k for a TSX when you add accessories.

Are you kidding me? I go to a school with a bunch of stuck-up new yorkers, but you win the award for being a rich bastard by far.
many people who have money have it because they spend what they have wisely. Why would you pay 37 grand when I got mine for $25,500? I mean is that $37,000 for acura rims, body kit, interior stuff, and I'm hoping an A-SPEC suspension? I mean if you just have 37,000 to blow why not get a BMW?

you paid $25k brand new? first my car is brand new and also has navigation. does your car look like mind? Probably not.

$29,800 + $2,000 navi + $5,000 A-Spec = $37k~

look, i really don't have to explain why i choose to spend $37k on an acura and why i didn't get a BMW. wanna know the real reason i didn't op for bmw/lexus? because EVERYONE grandmother has one.. the TSX isn't a car that is seen everyday, at least not here..

anyway, this thread isn't about me..

Yes I paid 25.5 brand new. And it doesn't look like "mind"(sic). You can see what I have (for about $28,000 with mods). You think the BMW is an old person car? I've seen way more bimmers with manual transmissions than the one manual TSX I have ever seen(my own). And you want to talk about a grandmother's car? I ALWAYS see old ladies driving the TSX. And you know the i-ves will probably be great for your grandkids in the back seat on those long rides to pre-school because we all know you can't hook up very well in the back seat.

"everyone and their grandmother" means everyone.. i didn't say it was an old persons car.. figure of speech.

and yes, i see old ladies driving the TSX, they drive them because they know where da shit is at.

Actually you did say the bimmer was a grandmother's car because you just said "EVERYONE grandmother has one" (sic). But I'm really glad you're into the old ladies and what they like.

whoa whoa whoa!! This is starting to get ugly. I started this thread to just share something i thought to be kinda funny, the reason i mentioned the cost of the TSX that was stolen is because i did not know that you could factory option it up, so to say, to about $40,000. This just surprised me a little bit ( and no it was not in canadian currency ). But anyways, back to the point. Sebo: I absolutely love your car, its my dream TSX, its pretty much perfect. And if you have the dough to spend on it, then hell, why not ya know? And Stewie: I understand where your coming from, my tsx was $28.5 brand new with nav. Actually, I uinderstand where both of you are coming from, if you have the money, you only live once, might as well have fun while we can. But in the meantime, can we all just get along and not worry about what other people spend on their TSX? pleaseee

I have spent basically the same as sebo but I have a lot more parts on my car. I am sorry but you could have gotten the car price knocked down some. You could have gotten each item knocked down about 100. that shouldnt have cost you more than like 32 or 33k before taxes sorry. still a good looking car.

i have an '04 navi aspec tsx, bought it with 25000 miles, but only paid $24k for it. I have heard of dealers charing 7k+ for the aspec kit, so a fully loaded one with aspec could easily hit 40k new.

I guess what really bothers me isn't that something may be expensive, there's just no reason not to work the price down. I mean why would you just GIVE money away? Any consumer that pays more when they know others are paying less is quite foolish.

Although on second thought, in a few years I hope sebo comes into the BMW dealership right before. He'll insist on paying $70,000 when the salesman only really wants $60,000 for the M3. Then they can sell me my M3 for $50,000. sweetness.

yo whats with the Sebo Bashing...sheesh...his car is nice and to him its worth it...plus we don't knwo what his time value of money costs anyway. For all we know, the 3 hours he saved from not having to go do reasearch and price hunt he proably could've made a few grand doign whatever he does, and for some of us, 3 hours of our time we probably make nothing so its worht it to us to look around. Don't bash the guy simply because his value on time is different. OH, and Sebo didn't pay more, he paid dealer MSRP, know the difference.

Sebo, btw, nice car can you tell me how u lowered it and what exhaust that is? Simply sick and clean....(consider a M3 lip!)

Oh yeah....don't bash the guy for spending money on his car cause i know some of you people here spend quite the dollar to get some parts are are just purely useless or could've been put to better use....(cough jdm tow hook cough)

priceless:

It looks like you let some of these guys get to you. You have probably the cleanest "OEM" TSX on the board, IMO -- just enjoy your ride.

Now that I think of it, I paid almost as much for my TSX after the tranny, aspec, reflash, performance tires, etc. It's worth every penny to me.

Yeah, I could've bought a TL-S or even 330i with that money and it would re-sell for a whole lot more (translation: mods don't add to the value of the car), but that's beside the point.

Is Sebo still the only AZ member to have the iVES?

How's the thing working today? Any glitches or problems with it? I was think of getting one to entertain my 3-year old son, but thought there's already enough going on when the car is moving.

One undeniable truth about cars is that no matter what you pay, someone will pay less for the same thing (or pay less for more). It's a bit of a pointless discussion to have IMO - what someone pays for a car is the intersection of their priority, finances, dealership, region, timing, ability/willingness to do the research, ability/willingness to spend minutes or days buying it - the list goes on. I used to sell Acuras back in 1990-91 (when it was a Legend, Integra and Vigor ). You'd be amazed at the stories. However at the end of the day if you leave the lot with a car, by definition you and the dealership are both happy. A "good deal" is truly in the eye of the beholder. There are people in this world who would freak out at spending $26K on a car in the first place - so if a $37K loaded TSX floats your boat, go enjoy it.

If he stole the TSX without the keys, it'd be more shocking. But since the guy had the car's keys lying around, then it's pretty much expected.
