TSX Steering
i have a question about Steering of TSX.
i know it is tighter, feels heavier than other rides ive been in. (A4 (front trak) , IS250, TL ETC)
compared to these relatively comparable rides, the TSX feels so tight in steering.
i almost wonder if the TSX has no power steering function.
can anyone explain this TSX's tight steering with technical reasons ?
and also, will my next mod (Tanabe or Tein Basic Coilcover) change my steering feel a lot?

Can't say I find the steering tight/heavy - if anything, it's erring on the side of a bit lighter than neutral.
I'd suggest you take a dealer's demo car out for a drive and see if it feels the same. If it does, then it's just you that needs to learn the weight.
If not, then it may be yours has a bit of problem.
Suspension won't/shouldn't affect the feel/weighting of steering. Sway bars may do that due to their effect.

Lightest steering of any car I've owned.
It's tight in as it's direct, or sharp. Which is good. But the effort required is minimal.

The weight of the steering is simply a function of how much power assist Honda decided to use. It might be fair to say the TSX uses less assist than cars that you've owned in the past.
The steering rack also has a "tuned by feel" amount of preload applied to it. This would be just under the point where the pinion mates with the rack. A small nylon plug is used to provide some tension against the rack itself.
The level of assist is variable and is designed to make the steering feel the same way whether you are sitting still or going 80mph.

the steering is perfect in this car!!
well...
I'm a valet, so I drive all kinds of cars everyday, and when I do get back in my own car, I appreciate the steering feel even more, not too tight like some of the beemer 3 series, but definitely not light like anything else
power steering is DEFINITELY there, without power steering...you can't even turn the wheel without two hands
trust me

I felt that the stock steering feel, though responsive, was just a little too light and floaty for my taste.
After installing my coilovers first and FSTB later on, the steering is much improved IMO. It feels heavier and much more connected to the road. Response was also greatly enhanced. Overall, the steering just feels more solid, but especially at highway cruising speeds.
Btw, anyone who says that adding a front strut bar is purely for aesthetics must either be the strongest man alive or have no nerve endings in their arms to not be able to feel the increase in steering weight...

The TSX's steering may not be heavy per se, but it does have pretty good on-center feel, and a nice quick response, at least compared to other vehicles I've owned.
One thing I did notice is, after installing a RSB, the steering feel changed, albeit not that much. It seemed even lighter to me. It took me a while to get used to it, and I wasn't sure I liked it that much. No worries now.
All in all, I like the TSX's steering a lot.
