TSX Noob.....

This is my first post.....but looking to post alot more often since I am looking to buy a TSX within the next 3-4 weeks. I'm already certain on color, nav, but I still have a few questions on accessories.

Is it better to buy the underbody kit/spoiler from the dealership and have them install....or to buy it off of another place and get someone else to install it.

I know i'm probably looking at the 07 TSX Nav base to come out to around 28K and adding the kits/spoilers will probably add 2k-2.5k to it.

welcome....the kit you might be able to get cheaper elsewhere....do your homework on it....you might be able to even print out a copy from somewhere else cheaper then the dealer would quote you and have them match it....as for install, the dealer will charge you alot for that, best to do it yourself if you're capable....its really not that hard....do some searches on here for a DIY...

On the other hand, many members have been able to get the kit thrown in around dealer cost + labor (around $1k) and then it is covered under your warranty, when purchasing at the same time as the car. Your call which way you want to do it.

Thanks for the info.

Can anyone who has been able to do this give me a rough estimate on the dealer cost for the under body kit and wing spoiler? I've searched online but haven't been able to find anything.

If I can get the car with this already on it....it'll be one less thing I need to worry about. The other advantage would be that the cost would be incorporated to the monthly payments...which is great because I wouldn't have to dig up 1.5-2k apart from the payments.

During your negotiation, make them install the kit for a discount. I think if you buy it from a shop, they come unpainted (that's how it is with mugen i think)

TSX_Rican, where are you from? Your area also might dictate what price you can get (i.e. a few dealers in a metropolitan area might get you less of a deal whereas many dealers in a metro area will usually get you better prices).

I suggest you ask for quotes on the internet from at least 4 dealers (this is what I did). After you get the price quotes (make sure you tell them you want the kit and spoiler so they quote the car with that equipment), you email the three dealers that gave you higher quotes with the quote of the fourth, minus $100, and ask them to beat it. So, you get the quote from dealer 1 (for $30,000) and you email dealers 2, 3, and 4 and tell them you have a quote for $29,900 and ask if they can beat that price.

I did that until I got $250 under invoice and all dealers told me they couldn't even match that price (after a while they only offered to match the price but I kept emailing the others with $100 less and they kept matching that one). I walked out of the dealer with an 07 TSX with floor matts for $28,032 plus TT&L and free oil changes for life.

Thanks so much for the info. Was this with Navi included? Just getting an idea of pricing with all the adds I want.

BTW....I am located in Columbia, SC and only have 1 acura dealer here. I however, sent emails to 4 other locations that were about 1 hr away...which brings the total to 5 dealerships I sent emails to.

Thanks again to anyone who contributed.

Yes, I got it with Navi for that price. Let us know what prices they start to offer it to you. Invoice is $28,282 (for the navi) plus your parts plus labor to install them so keep that in mind.

Saw that I made some mistakes above:

Dealer 1: 29,099

Dealer 2: 29,660

Dealer 3: 30,809....which is significantly higher than the previous 2.

Dealer 4: Sent two emails and received two replys with NO quote. Seems like he's skating the question. Instead of a quote....he specified in detail their accomplishments and said that "once" we meet, I would be please...blah blah blah. So I basically told him that all I did not have the opportunity at this moment to meet with him for just a quote....so all I needed was a quote on the car and if that was not possible...that I would take my business elsewhere.

Dealer 5: Will contact me within the next couple of days.

Already some good differences between the first 3.

Once I receive all the dealer quotes...I will start doing what was stated above by Nogard13.
