TSX and IS300, a visual comparison

On thing that sticks out for me is how tall the TSX is. Not sure if the IS300 springs are stock though.

I've seen the IS and a TSX parked side by side where I bought my car as there's a Lexus delaership next door owned by the same people. IMHO, the IS looks completely outdated next to the TSX. I seriously had trouble believing how much better the TSX looked. I had to stare at the two cars for few minutes. I mean I like the IS (except the rear lights) but the TSX styling to me anyway is just far superior.
But styling is subjective so

I agree the TSX seems pretty tall all 'round - roof, beltline, trunk. But it's not alone, there's plenty of other tall cars now, not even including minivanlets like the Matrix. Whenever I'm bothered by the height of the TSX, I remind myself of the height of all those SUV bumpers out there and it starts to seem like a good thing safety-wise.

I would have to say the tsx is definitely tall but it still looks nice and is one of the reason the cabin feels roomy. A nice 1" drop or so by comptech might make a big visual impact even though the drop is minimal.

The TSX's height is plus in my book. I need the TSX's headroom (at 6'4"), but it's also easier to get into and out of. I just don't like having to crouch down into a shorter/lower car.
All that and sweet handling too...

I agree that the TSX looks better, but the drive on the TSX is nowhere as great as the IS 300. I hate to admit it but it's true. I had to get my door lock mechanism fixed in my lexus gs 300, so they gave me an IS 300 as a loaner car for about 4 days. And that car drove amazin, and then the next week I picked up the TSX, and I hate to admit it didn't drive as good. The acceleration and handling is quite more superior on the IS300.

I like the look of the IS300 a lot, but it is just way too small. The backseat is worse than a lot of coupes.
The TSX would look 10x as good if one of the 3 rim options was even in the neighborhood of cool. The stock rims are boring as hell and that flat finish is so dull. If they were machined, that would help and if the 5 star optional wheels were machined instead of painted, that would be even better. All of the rims look like crap in my opinion and the only color that the stock rims look ok on is the silver.
I think the rims really take away from an otherwise good looking car.

I think the TSX looks nice and is growing on me but it has way to much front overhang for me. The IS looks very aggresive to me stock with short overhangs and lil styling details it takes some effort to see.
This IS was brought here in 2001 but was sold in Japan in 1997 which means it is a 8 year old design. Which means it has stood the test of time. Honda changes it's designs so often, they never get the chance (3 year refreshning, 5 year total redo). Not bad for an 8 year old design.
Obviously, the people here will think their car looks superior, thus TSX.com as people on IS.net will thing their car looks superior and people at Yugo.com will think their cars look superior!
