Whether or not these individuals actually have driven either car is up for debate. I've only driven the TSX, so I can't comment on the IS. Edmunds is the most notable culprit here. The TSX has been getting hammered in unsubstantiated comparos there. I should go test drive an IS just so I can chip in.
If you've driven both, you should go there and set them straight.

Being better buttoned down makes the highway rides better.
Sure, the car can be a bit choppy on really rough road, but the new suspension is great, IMO, as is the stock setup. I think the TSX does a great job of striking a balance between ride quality and handling. Better than any other car I've owned. The biggest detriment is the OEM tires.
I still think your interchanging of the terms "buttoned down" and "soft" is contradictory. Most enthusiasts use the term "buttoned down" to describe a tight, sharp-handling chassis.

I drove both IS250 auto & TSX auto while shopping for my wife's new car.
We drove IS250 & ES330 back to back. IS250 felt a lot better compared to ES, but we felt the car was not practical enough. We spent a lot more time test driving TSX & TL back to back to back (sales person was very patient) We ended up getting a TSX.
I am now looking to get an IS250 6MT for myself. I would be able to make a more object comments once I start to test the car more frequently (though it will be comparing auto vs manual)
BTW, do you guys really take the car into a hard corner while on a test drive to push the limits?

As for the bloke that picked up the IS, congrats. I love the way the new IS looks, and there aren't many car manufacturers that do creature comforts any better. From a driver's point of view, I've always felt that Lexus vehicles eliminate the "fun" by isolating the driver from the outside. For luxury, that's exactly what you want --- I personally prefer much more feedback from the road for a sporty ride.

I'm not suggesting the TSX is better than the IS. Hell, I've never even driven an IS and if I was buying today I'd probly take the IS since I prefer its styling inside and out. Buy to spew out numbers as the basis for an argument is plain ignorant.
mrmark, congrats on the new IS, I'm sure you'll love it.

I expect that tires will make a huge difference. I guess I'll try wearin' down the stock ones first, but I bet they'll last forever and that I'll get sick of them and buy new tires early.

Yes, another TSX.
If I was buying a new car and was planning on spending 10-20K more I would have looked at an IS.

TSX is better bang for buck but I dont think anyone would argue that IS is a very nice car. Personal taste but I would not be happy spend extra 5+ for comparably equipped.

I checked out the IS250 last night. I like the backup camera, light under the exterior mirrors, and light in the interior feet area feature. Now Acura should "borrow" them and incorporate into the future TSXs.

Overall, I still prefer my TSX over it.
