Tsx Home Link System...

Is it good?

I know the homelink in my 2001 Accord EX V6 is a POS and takes forever to program and it doesnt work well and it has horrible range.

Am I to expect the same stress and annoyances when I get a TSX?

Anyone?

My garage door opener has rolling code and I programmed it in about 5 minutes. It's nice not having remote clipped onto the sun visor.

yea, mine had better range than the original garage opener too. Programming was easy. Took me 2 minutes and i had two garage doors.
If you have the rolling code you will have to use the "learn" button on your garage opener motor. The instructions are in the owners manual and are really straight forward, just read them all the way through once before you start.

It also helps to have one person press the button on the Genie and the other pressing the homelink button in your TSX.........pretty easy procedure. Love my homelink....... Just gotta hold the button a little longer than on original remote....

my range is horrible. 1/2 range of the original garage opener.. nearly have to park against the garage door for it to work sometimes.. somehow it got better within last few thousand miles.. maybe i just press down harder? but still nowhere comparable to regular garage opener nor my familys lexus..which double the range of the home garage opener....

so depend on your luck

The homelink in our TSX and MDX work really well. I get some great range. It took about 5 minutes per car to program.

Homelink in my TSX has excellent range. I can open my garage door from 3 houses up the street (couldn't do that with the original remote)

If you have the Genie Garage door opener....
You do need 2 people to program it though (unless you can run really fast after jumping off a ladder).

5 minutes is a waste of 4.5 minutes. just push the learn button on the garage unit or press and hold the remote while holding the button. programmed my house, my parent's house, and an apartment complex (all with rolling codes) no problem. range is good for most, but often the units (with the actual motor) are placed in places that can block recieving of a signal. And if you reprogram, you have to clear all three at the same time.

You have to press the "learn" or "program" button at the back of your garage door opener unit. I think I had to hold mine for 10-15 seconds and the light above it lit up. I then had 15 or 30 seconds to go and press and hold the homelink button in the TSX. You have to press and hold the homelink button multiple times until your garage door starts opening or closing. I had to do that 2x and then the garage door started closing; telling me the unit made a link to the homelink. That was all I had to do.

there is a trick to getting it to work with the homelink, you cannot just use the remote you have to climb up a ladder to the actual unit and push a button as the genie has a rotating code. I will post a how to after I can find it, there was a descritpion of this issue in my lexus owners manual.

I thought you can clear just one by holding it for 30 seconds.

That happened to me too when i first got it. What yuo have to do is hold down the button until the garage opens. You will find that the range is much further than your regular remote. Trust me.
