tsx in germany...
I just got a question for any owner of the TSX in Germany or Europe...how do they do on the autobahn? Do they able to keep up with the BMW and Mercedes?

Man, what I would give to test my TSX on the Autobahn. The fastest I've pushed my TSX before chickening out was 100mph on a 5 mile stretch on a less used highway here in TN.
You guys do realize that the Autobahn is not exclusive to Germany right?

Driving home from a concert at 4AM, I got it up to about 130 before I started shaking and sweating. The car was rock solid, however.
I'd love to test it on the autobahn! That'd be AWESOME.
There's video of a guy who is in the Armed Forces deployed in Germany on here who took his brand new TL-S over on the autobahn and road tested it. I'm too tired to search but if you search in the TL forum, I'm sure you'll find the video, it's sick!

Here's the "TSX" in Germany which is branded as an Accord Limousine. Priced at 24,000 or so Euros.

Be sure to also check out their Accord Tourer which is bascially N Americas TSX turned into a station wagon.

i've gotten mine up to 135 before i thought i was gonna get pulled over...it was like 3am coming home from the lake, no cars were out, the car felt solid and I FEEL that the car could have got to 140.

Lets limit our discussion here to the autobahn. We already have a number of threads on "what's the fastest you've driven your TSX" and such. Here is one: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...583#post126583. There is a longer, more recent one, but I couldn't find it at the moment.

Same here I go my 04 tsx up to 127 and she was still pushing for me.. Felt like a lil rockect very light shaking but nothing too serious... I think she could hit 140 and a lil more mayb if the weather is right

I think the car cruises good at 90 mph but gets significantly more annoying at 100 mph and up. More road and engine noise, more vibration, obstacles approach quicker and you have to brace your foot deeper into the gas pedal.

I don't think the car would do well at 100+ mph at extended periods of time like the German cars could.
Basically just agreeing with Wackura

The design of the car is fairly aerodynamic and that is far and away the biggest obstacle at those kind of speeds. I think it would do OK and remain reasonably stable handling-wise up to something like 120 mph. I think sustaining speeds higher than might overtax the thermal dissipation abilities of the stock radiator and transmission. You'd certainly want to add a tranny cooler if you were going to be in a situation where you'd be cruising frequently at such speeds.
Of course accelerating upwards of 120 in 200 hp, 4 cylinder car is going to be a bit anemic. Those German highway gobbling machines would easily embarrass us. Our cars are built to excel up to well above the speed limit but I don't think the Autobahn drivers were the demographic Honda was targeting with this platform.

^^ ya but you also have to remember that those German cars they sell over there aren't all m3s and 911s. they have many smaller cars that aren't sold over here. Note that Benz, Mercedes, and the like, sell models of the 3 series and C-class with downgraded engines. All that german engineering to lug around too.
So while they have cars that can go 140 without breaking a sweat, there are many German cars that probably can't get out of their own way on the autobahn. IOW, there is a wide spectrum of cars, and I think that a TSX would do fine staying at speed amongst the general populace.

According to Wikipedia (it's always right) the average autobahn speed is 93 mph in stretches where there is no speed limit, and as I was saying I think the TSX feels good at 90 but not 100, so I wonder if that's a coincidence.

^^in addition to that, for the most part, the Autobahn seems to be a smoother and better maintained highway. If 90-100 feels good here (it feels fine here in Cali, especially on LA-Vegas trips ), then I'm guessing its good for the better part of the autobahn.

Could the TSX hang on the Autobahn? Sure, 90-100 mph is in the upper range of the TSX's cruising sweet spot (it starts getting pretty loud around there). The direction the conversation was more about how it would do cruising in the upper reaches of it's abilities and that's what I was responding too.
As far as highway quality goes, in Europe, they build their highways with the idea that they should last 80 years. In America we build our highways with the idea they should last 40. Why? Because it's cheaper up front. Ah the American way.

100 % right. I went to Greece this past summer to visit a friend and went for a 7 hours highway drive and yes the roads are much better. And let me tell you guys something, over there lot of people drive over 100 mph/160 kph on the highways.
