TSX Crash Test
I came across this, actually, while doing a search for my Honda Accord. It's a crash test for the TSX (Euro Accord) from Australia. Just thought you all might find it of some interest...

I was gonna say the same thing about the rear impact. That makes me especially nervous considering I put my 5 month old back there every day. Ohio drivers are more inclined to slam into the back of you because they don't pay attention to a damn thing.

It isn't certain death in rear crashes. That's saying you will probably have whiplash, not that you're going to die. The seats got a poor rating on protecting driver's from whiplash. I agree, Acura should do better, but being hit from the rear doesn't mean you're sure to die.
And your 5 month old, assuming he/she is in a car-seat, is perfectly safe.

When my car was hit from behind pretty hard (I wasn't in it), there was absolutely no intrusion into the passenger compartment. The trunk was destroyed, but it crumpled as designed.
edit: see?

Cars don't come much sturdier than the TSX.
It's too much of this misconception that bigger=safer. That's not true. Assuming that the rear-end collision is with a car of a similar size, you have little to worry about. I'm not sure how the TSX would hold up to a semi or anything, but just for most cars you could encounter, you're in very good hands.
You see, for anything to be compressed, the vehicle would have to obliterate the crumple zone and keep going. Unless they're going uberfast, or driving a vehicle that weighs substantially more, that is highly unlikely.
However, in a car, you're never 100% safe. But you made a really good choice with the TSX. It will serve you well, both in driving, and in the case of an unfortunate accident.
(BTW, I am not a TSX owner, but I do know that Honda's newer cars are about as safe as cars come for any price. Do some research and you'll see that the vast majority of late model Honda/Acura products have the top scores in their respective categories)

is TSX just an Euro Accord... i am not really sure.. i mean, besides the k24 engine, does TSX share the body 100% with Euro Accord? i was lead to believe TSX is stronger because it weighted heavier than it-with less accessories, so the additional weight went to strength body with more wield points, and ??? ammi right or wrong?

If you're in an accident that's bad enough to destroy your crumple zones in any car, that's bad news. In the case of being rear-ended, I'd say most of those are not high-speed collisions the way head-on collisions are anyway. So moda, I think your child is pretty safe

The only way not to be financially walloped now is to hold onto her for a long time and run her into the ground. It has every bit of the road manners it had on April 30th and some of the rattles are even gone, so maybe I'll be lucky.
Well, hopefully the body shop did a good job.
