Question TSX Car Cover

I couldn't find this anywhere, even though I read it awhile back. But here it goes:

What are the pros/cons to car covers?

and

Is it worth having one if your car is gonna be outside almost 24/7?

I realize there's cons about scratching your paint if your car isn't clean when u put the cover on, etc. - but just looking for your guys' opinions!

personally i wouldn't get one... only reason is it's a hassle to put on/ take off everyday and with how the world is today i wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to steal your car cover. but that's just my $.2

It's a pain putting it on and off. Eventually, I quit putting it on. It was a hassle rolling it up as well.

You're right, the car needs to be clean before you put on the cover...so you'd have to at least dust the car each time.

Car covers are good for long term storage...like if you're leaving your car in an airport's long-term parking, or if you'll be gone for a weekend. It's not really viable to use on a daily basis.

If you could only park under a tree, though, it might be worth the hassle of dusting your car and putting the cover on...I'd rather clean the car than to leave it to be egged by the birds lol

I have used car covrs for several years. Yes they can be a pain in the a$$. Especially if you use one of the light weight ones and your car is waxed. They tend to slide around a bit before you can get one end on or the pockets over the mirrors.
If there is a light coating of dust, a CA car duster or similar usually is sufficient to clean the car enough for a cover, anything heavier than that, it's time for a wash.

My TSX is black and my previous car was dark blue and I've never had any problems with scratches.
If you get one, make sure it is made for outdoor use. The "eveloution 4" covers are fairly enexpensive, but are bulky and I think they tend to leave a coating of dust on the car.
I have had good luck with "storm guard" or "storm proof" covers from Cover King or Cover Craft. Very light weight, store easily, but are harder to put on that some of the heavier covers.

Good luck.

Mike

I have the factory acrua tsx cover and put it on daily. I do not find it a problem and I take pride in my car. It is worth the effort to have my car always looking good. I use one of those California duster before I put my cover on and after I take it off. I also use the lock and cable that was provided with the cover. I just use a long tree branch to shove the cable to the other side of the cover to lock it. I would not park mine without my cover on. The only time I do not put it on is if the it is raining out.

I just took my car cover off my T after not driving it for a week. I was friggin pissed!!!! All the dust and scratches I might as well left it exposed and in the sun. I may never use the cover again.

I park by a major highway everyday at work and if it sits out there for just 1 day the car is a mess. I have the Acura cover and cover the car everyday at work. It takes like 5 mins to take of but it beats washing the car for 20 mins every day after work.

just bought a car cover today, just bought a condo and the parking is right under some huge ass trees. i'm not a fan of having acorns or tree sap fall on my ride so i am going the cover route.

i will definitely only use it when my car is fairly clean though.
