TSX auto....good?

Hi, new here. My girlfriend's getting a tsx in a couple weeks but she wants an auto. Today I went to the dealers but they didn't have an auto for me to test...someone was testing it and we couldn't stay long. But, I did get a a chance to drive the 6 speed and it was awesome! I wish she would reconsider but oh well. Anyway, I just want to know, for those of you that have an auto, how is the power? Is it quick from a stop and how is freeway driving, smooth, quiet, change lanes quickly. Does it ever feel like there's not enough power? I know I can easily go test drive one, but sometimes you notice how a car is after driving it for a while...so that's why I'm asking. Any info is appreciated! Thanks.

It's probably the best auto I've driven, it has good power when you take off from a dead stop and on the highway it cruises good without always changing gears.

The auto is actually pretty damn nice. Decent power, especially on the highway for passing, etc. Don't expect the auto to be quick off the line, though. The tranny is really smooth, though it does downshift often. The auto also gets better gas mileage than the manual due to gearing.

Still, just get her what she wants. She'll be happier that way instead of getting talked into something that she might regret later. You might think the stick is awesome, but she may not.

Frankly, automatic, I'd rather take an Accord V6. I drove a TSX automatic and thought of it that it was no more exciting to drive or fast than my Accord 1999 autom. 4 cyl. The 6-sp. manual is another story.

The TSX auto is 1 full second faster from 0 - 60 than the old Accord 4 auto.

If she's into overall sportiness, get the TSX auto.

Otherwise, if she cares about acceleration and roominess, get the Accord V6 auto.

... but it doesn't really show in day-to-day driving. You'll notice in the last legs at 7000rpm, not in the 0-5000rpm range. I didn't feel that it was faster even if I know that ultimately, it is.

She's already made up her mind on an auto and I don't mind, it's her car. Anyway, when it downshifts, can you feel it? I mean is it rough or barely noticable?

What exactly is the 0-60 for the TSX in auto/manual. I don't remember seeing it any magazines I've read.

I had a TSX loaner for 2 days, auto of course

I for one dislike autos, but I was very impressed by the auto tranny in this car. I only drove in sport shift mode. The power is there, minimal to no lag.

Downshifts are quiet and smooth. On the highway as with any 4cyl honda/acura, if you truly want to do some quick passing you have to drop it into 3rd. Well, I ran this car all over the highways, constantly dropping to 3rd, passing. the power is there, the smoothness is there.

I would personally take teh 6 spd for myself, but it if her car and she wants the auto it a good choice, you'll enjoy driving those once in a blue moon times she actually lets you

It really is the best auto that I have ever drive. I own a BMW and have driven just about ever car in the same category as the TSX (IS300, A4, Passat, TL, 325) and the auto on the TSX is hands down the smoothest and best tranny available today in this price range.

I really like the auto. I've driven manuals all my life and I loved them, but I get to sit in traffic every morning for about 45 minutes so it was a PITA. The auto shifts very smoothly, and there is also the manual mode which is better than any other manu-matic I have driven. There is very little lag time when using it, and it lets you start out in 1st gear unlike some other cars (IS300).

I am required to lease an automatic since mine is a company lease. I find the downshifting to be very smooth, little or no hesitation, quiet engine, tend to watch the tach to see when the shift is occurring. Auto is actually very pleasurable in local stop/go traffic; have played with the sports shift, but tend to leave it in auto default. One of the smoothest automatic transmissions I have had in any car.

Low-end torque from stop is no necksnapper, but midlevel speed changes really draw down a very smooth power resource; backroad and freeway in/out driving can be a lot of fun. This is the first car that I've had that I haven't complained about the automatic.

I was in the same boat. Wife wanted an auto so I had to give up my 6 speed. But truthfully I don't miss it all that much.

Thanks guys for all of your inputs. I will be looking out for what you've said when I test drive the auto.
