TSX Alarm

Anyone know the specs on the TSX factory alarm? Are there sensors on the doors and windows? Also, is it expandable?

Whenever you lock it, the alarm set. You can lock with keyless remote control or use your key or lock it from either driver site or passenger site door before you shut it.

No sensors on the windows or doors? How about if the car is lifted to have its wheels stolen, would it go off?

Also, is it expandable (if the above items aren't from factory)?

There are sensors in the door. You can probably add a sensor to the hood, at least Honda's used to allow that.

If you lifted the car, the alarm would probably not go off. I believe the only input into the system is a glass breakage microphone (or at least that used to be the deal with Honda alarms).

I think the Alarm is an Alpine unit.

No need to add a sensor to the hood as one is already there. Try it by sitting inside the car and set the alarm. Wait for the 15 seconds delay, then use the hood latch to pop the hood. The alarm should go off.

One might be able to wire a motion/glass breakage sensor to one of the door switches or trunk switch. The trick is to add a relay to the motion/glass sensor power wire so it only has power when the ignition is off. This is to prevent the door open indicator light from coming on while driving (due to sense of motion).

I think the manual will confirm this, but I recall the ringing only occurs if the car was opened (such as the trunk or a passenger door) before you open the driver's door. Mine doesn't ring all the time, but this seems to be the pattern with me. Probably another one of their *helpful* security measures I could live without.

P.S. One of my peeves is if you don't enter the car within 30 seconds of unlocking it, the doors re-lock. Sometimes if I'm talking to someone while they're admiring my car, I have to keep unlocking the doors!
