TSX 2.4 4 Cyl?
TSX 2.4 4 Cyl?
I have test driven the TSX, but havent had to much time with it, and since mine isnt arriving until next week I can't stop wondering how the 4 Cyl is on a daily basis. I was hoping to get some insight from you folks in here. Is the 4 Banger enough?

well yea.
more power is always nicer, so if you got a lead foot and want to go quick - i would suggest looking for a more powerful car and if you do get the tsx, the 6MT has a slick and smooth tranny.

I dumped the RSX S cuz of the Manual for the TSX, There is way to much traffic in New England Esp RTE 1, Its sickening. Enough to make me want a AT. Im not looking for a Rocket like my RSX either, I just am curoius what you all think?

technically, you can just continue to take out the tsx on several test drives to see if you like it. it's a great car.

no matter what we say, it comes down to how you feel about it in the end.imo the power is fine, but if you're used to driving corvettes, you're goin to hate the tsx.

Thats the only problem if you want to call it that.
Due to weight, once your moving its fine.
To elaborate on my previous response...
If you're looking for a comfortable commuter with good driving characteristics and an engaging driving manner, then the TSX is one of the best choices. If you're looking for something that will crush all competition, this is not the car for you.
Like dzuy said, if you're not sure, take a few more test drives. The 5AT is an exceptional auto tranny and you will be happy with either choice.

i work in peabody, go to school in boston...how about you?
Well savage, peabody tried to rook me on my rsx type s, so i purchased that from boston. Boston met my needs. Ive had my eye on the TSX for a bit, and decided to take a ride to Boston last week, and see if boston could help me out. I walked out with signed papers. LOL Sad part is I gotta wait (Impatient). I live in peabody, and only go to acura of peabody for service. Ill never buy from peabody.

Two thoughts on this issue:
1) My real frustration with the TSX is that I never get to use the acceleration! I'm always stuck in traffic out here in LA!
2) I still think the big issue with the TSX is lack of traction at launch, and wheels that are far to heavy for a (relatively) low torque engine. It reminds me of when I was playing college hockey and our coach use to make us skate with weights on ankles. If I ever get caught up on my mortgage payments, I'm going to get some really light wheels and some very aggressive summer tires (never snows in Los Angeles!).
And, btw, I came to this conclusion based on some comments by some really informed posters here. Read this forum and you can learn a lot about your vehicle.

yeah Acura of Boston hooked it up, i called up and told them what i wanted, my sales guy called back 10 min later with a price that stunned me, i told him i would come in that weekend and we sealed the deal, i had to wait 3 weeks because it was just gettin off the boat in the US when i bought it...don't worry you will have it soon enough...
i live in wakefield but since i am in boston so often for school i think i am gonna use the acura of boston service dept...i see your family has lots of acuras you have any opinions on the service departments of the different dealerships? How do they treat you if you have any aftermarket parts?

I did, I test drove and i loved the feel. My curiosity is simply a daily basis for those tsx daily drivers. How do they enjoy it. I will love the tsx no matter what! Acura/Honda puts out a great products.

Oh, well, youre gonna find out sooner or later. When the threads on this site turn to what we would like in a revised, new, better TSX, the conversation always goes to 20 to 40 more hp, which, in the opinion of the technically gifted on this site, could be done by tuning the current four-banger up. That would resolve the slightly slow baseline acceleration that you see being reluctantly owned on this thread.
That said, the engine works hard, sustains power through to redline, thanks to the V-TEC (sp?) and, at spead, accelerates aggressively enough in daily traffic - I never have a problem in darting in and out on the freeway at my direction. I find the car very nimble, which may reflect more on the handling than pure power. In the course of a week, I pretty much drive in everything - mostly congested traffic - both urban and freeway, the TSX has yet to disappoint. If you'e looking for a clean commuter in and around Boston, where drivers take no prisoners, I think the TSX will do you proud. If you can get out to some interesting roads (Berkshires) then the handling characteristics of this car will shine.............
On a daily basis - this car makes the driving experience far, far more fun than it used to be. Sit back, adjust the seat, turn the bun-warmer on in the cold, adjust the speakers, and whip through traffic

acceleration =
I commute almost 30 miles to work/day, some of it interstate highway, some of it stop/go urban traffic. I agree with the previous poster that said its one of the best commuter cars. It is very nimble and when already moving, has plenty of kick to get you out of trouble, or into the lane you want to be in. The seat is very comfy, ergonomics are outstanding, and visibility is good all around. It takes corners extremely well. Its quiet, especially on smooth pavement.
Only two things that are negatives - it is somewhat slow off the line, and the brakes could be a notch better, in my op.

My Ma Drives a Toyota Solara Convertible! Good stuff as well.
The power from the 4 banger is fine for just cruising around town and commuting. It is a bit under powered for the car's weight...but it is geared well and as everyone says...once it's moving it's a pretty zippy car. If I feel like I want to drive something with more power...I take the firehawk out...otherwise...I'll take the nice interior and smooth, quiet ride. Sometimes ya gotta take luxury over brute "needle in the ass" horsepower.
After 6 months of happy ownership I am still in love with the "crisp" handling and "refined manner" of this car. I feel that a bigger, heavier engine would unbalance a well engineered piece of machinery.
