Tranny Flush? Yay or nay?
Has anyone done a full transmission fluid flush (vs. a normal drain and change)? I've heard horror stories of transmissions failing after a flush.

I change my AT fluid every 30,000 miles at the dealership for all 3 Acuras and they just do 4-qt drain/refill only for about $103. I have +125,000 on my TSX and RDX with zero issues. I'm getting close to 70,000 on my MDX with zero issues also.
I once did transmission flush on my old 97 Honda Accord 4AT with only 110,000 miles at one of those jiffy lube places because they were running a special. I don't know if they used the wrong fluid or it was the flush itself. My trans was dead about 3 months later and I had to replace with a salvage one for about $1100. Oil is cheap, transmissions not so much.

Nay. Do not flush, it will probably kill the trans.
Ok to do 3x3 or "Vacuum Exchange" method via a newer style of ATF machine. The advantage is one can change the ATF closer to 100 percent vs a 3x3. (80%).

Hi guys,
Just an update:
I ended up doing a 3x3 drain and fill with 1 gas tank between consecutive changes. The shifting is very smooth now. Also replaced the ATF Filter with Honda OEM filter and used Honda DW-1 ATF.

Nvm I see you said Original, you're the 1st owner?
If yes, I would change it.
I bought my TSX used at 210k. The previous owner did not have maintenance records so I just did the 3x3 drain and fill.
I would recommend just doing one drain & fill first. Then 2 more afterwards. Space them out by at least one full gas tank.

I would replace the filter too while you're at it.

Could you list the major expenses you've had so far? I am very impressed that our TSXs can last this long (after all, it is assembled in Japan). It's my first car and as a college student, I plan on keeping it for a long time.
