Unfortunately it's only available for the TSX via aftermarket navi at this time.

The traffic gizmo is part of the RL's navi. Unless you can swap a RL navi unit to the TSX, you'll have to look into an aftermarket unit

XM broadcasts city specific traffic information on the 'radio.' I let my XM subscription lapse but I think I listened to Houston traffic on 227. The only difference is that you need to listen and figure out for yourself how to get around the traffic jams, but I suspect the information comes from the same source as the Nav Traffic so it is likely just as current. Oh and you already pay for it.

If acura can add traffic updates on Navi, they should also add weather information also for the display area. Acura Traffic isn't available for my city but it would be nice to know if rain, snow, hail storm, and/or icy road conditions exist a mile up the road.

I've thought that many times, weather would be wonderful to have, a forecast for the next 24 hours etc... road conditions and all that..

i'm sure soon that will be standard...

I have an '07 TSX w/Navi and the first time I brought up the icon menu, the very last icon was a traffic icon. It was a graphic of two cars and said traffic below the graphic. I pressed the icon which was grey and then it turned to blue as if it went active, but then the icon disappeared. So my point to this whole post is, that I know it is not supposed to be available. But I wonder if there is a way to hack the system to make it active, or maybe it needs a module that is not installed on the TSX. Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas on getting the Navi Traffic to work?

The traffic on the 2007 TSX works. I just confirmed it with the XM Radio people. they told me when you activate or refresh your XM signal your radio must be on for approx. 45 minutes and then the Nav Traffic will work.

If true this would be a big plus for the 2006 vs. 2007 discussion.

So I spoke with XM Radio Rep Tonight after seeing the other posts. I am not sure if the Navi Traffic is really supposed to work on the TSX. By the way I have a '07 Navi, they said that I could subscribe to Navi Traffic. I added the service for $3.99 a month, now I live in a suberb of Austin,TX and it was 11:15 at night so not much traffic. I end up getting the icon on my display that is highlighted blue as you will see from the 2 pictures that I am enclosing. The only issue is that if I touch the icon it dissappaers, but then will reappear grey instead of blue a few minutes later and vice versa if I touch the button again. I checked my navigation manual and their is no mention of the service so I think that it could be a fluke thing. I will try it tomorrow on my way to work and see if it works. I am going to have to locate a online manual for a '07 RL or TL since they advertise the feature, and see what directions they give for those vehicles. If it ends up working it is going to be one heck of a find.

Okay have the images, but need help on how to load the images to be viewed.

Thanks, will edit the post once I am able to load images

So I on my way to work, which is only about a 9 mile commute, I never saw any notices. Now here is the weird thing about it. I think it is tied into the handsfree link. Because every time I pushed the HF button on my sterring wheel the Traffic icon would display on my nav screen. So it is on, but I wonder if there is a software block or if I need the DVD Disc from the TL or RL. But then the issue with that is I think it is going to have a issue on reading the disc since it is from a different type of Nav system. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not according to this, we're not elligible. I do believe we are missing something hardware wise to make it happen. Gotta remember that phone reps aren't the most well informed people.

So I just spoke with my Acura dealer, they checked the DVD Disc from both a '07 TL & '07 TSX and they are both the exact same version. So I now have them checking the actual DVD Unit. It may just be a software update or it may be the actual DVD ROM unit. I have them checking on cost of the DVD unit for the TL. I will continue to update as I find more information.

Sorry, its the actual DVD unit. Check out the discussion on it in the 3G TL forums. 04-06 TL equipment does not match 07 TL equipment, and that's the only one that supports it. I must admit, its kind of random how Acura goes about mixing and matching parts sometimes, without any clear documentation or annoucements of changes.

I've always thought the 06 TSX Navi was the exact same as the 05-06 RL Navi? Shouldn't it be no more than a software upgrade to get the XM traffic to work on our 06/07 TSXs?

Maybe even just using a 05/06 RL DVD disk in the TSX might even work to activate the XM traffic?

I wouldn't say we got screwed. Acura never said that the TSX had NaviTraffic. As for the headlight issue, it does have Auto-Off headlights. I think that you are just a little bitter because you really wanted a TL from what I've seen you post in the TL forum. The TSX is a Drivers car, remember it's not just speed that makes a great car it is the whole package. If it was just based on speed every one would be driving a turbo charged Dodge Neon. I have owned a '03 TL Type S, a '04MDX and Now I have a '07 TSX and by far I have had the most fun with my TSX. I am sure once you have matured a little more (and I don't mean to slam you) you will start to realize that it is more about how the car handles then how fast you can go. Give your TSX a chance and don't be so negative about it. It has much better fit & finish than the TL.

I think I have found the missing link to get Navi Traffic on our TSX. I was at my local Acura dealership today, and started to talk with one of the service advisors about it. He procedded to do a little digging and found a TSB that talked about Navi Traffic, well in the TSB, one of the steps was to replace the Acura Link Module, the Acura Link seems to be embedded in the Blue Tooth module on the '07 TL, MDX, RDX and RL. So that would be the missing link in our TSX, we have the Bluetooth module, but it is a different version. That would also explain when I push the HandsFree Link on the sterring wheel it brings up the traffic icon button on my nav screen. I asked them how much the Blue Tooth module is for the '07TL with Navi, and they wanted $500 . My next step is to track one down for a little less, I would be willing to pay $200, but not much more then that. So I am now on the hunt for the module.

the part # for the 06 and 07 NAVI units are the same, so if iTSX07 can find out how to get it working it's applicable on the 06 NAVI as well

as long as the 06 owner has the most current disc i presume as well

This is not an optimal solution, but if you have a blackberry, Treo, or something of the like, you can download Google maps for free. I have a 2004 TSX with NAV, and it doesn't have traffic (of course). I'll frequently check traffic on my blackberry before hitting the road, and I do find that very helpful.

Hi iTSX07,

I just wanted to follow up with you to find out if you were able to track down the bluetooth module with traffic, and if the mod was successful. It'd be a great find if this worked! Thanks in advance!

Hey Mikeucla,

I have not tracked down the module yet, it is still on my list. I will make sure I post back here when I complete it. I think it is going to be one of my summer projects, just wanting to make sure I want to committ to the $500, if it does not work Acura will not take the part back. So I would end up with a $500 paper weight.

I was at an Acura dealer tonight and the salesman told me that the 08 tsx now have real time traffic feature. he did not know if it was an nav upgrade or dvd upgrade but he said he has seen the traffic icon on floor model. Although he told me he has not tested it on the road.

I would love to get traffic alerts on my '07 tsx. can any '08 owners find out what changed to get the real-time traffic on the navi?

As someone else already said in this thread, the icon shows up on his '07 as well, but it doesn't work. I have seen no mention of nav traffic on the '08 TSX, so I doubt it works.
