Trade 07 MDX for 08 TSX

With the has prices being as high as they are, I'm thinking of trading my 07 MDX for 08 TSX. What prices are reasonable for a TSX, auto, base (no NAV)? Is 26K doable (I also want to get the 0.9% financing for 48 months).

Thanks for any advice.

That's probably doable, and I don't blame you for the trade. The TSX gets good gas mileage.

2008 tsx 26k? I hope you do not mean OTD. Are you leasing or financing your 07 mdx? and how much of a hit are you going to take on it in comparision with what you pay in gas?

I got my MDX for 37,800, I hope to get 33,500 for it.
I'm financing it.
The going finance rate on a TSX (2008) is 0.9%, which is another incentive to trade.

I figure gas at $6.00 a gallon (a strong possiblity if crude price hits $200.00), I'd be saving almost 1500/year in gas alone.

2008 TSX @ 26K - I don't mean OTD, but my OTD price will be close to 26K, since I won't pay any tax on the deal, as MDX is worth more than the TSX.

if you're worried about gas, then get a similarly equipped accord that uses regular fuel. tsx still requires premium.

my $0.02

The difference between premium and regular is negligable and will always be pretty much constant, so no I don't wory about this. I worry that the gas price in general will be too high to drive an SUV. Also the current incentive rates & prices make TSX a great bargain.

How bad is the gas mileage in the MDX compared to the TSX anyway? I would of thought you would be losing more money by trading in your MDX?

on average, premium is about $0.20 more per gallon than regular fuel. so how in the world is this a neglibable point? the op wants to step from an mdx to a tsx and mainly cited gas prices as the deal buster ...

20 cent * 60 gallon a month (once per week) =$12 a month for a total of $144 for a year. downsizing from MDX to TSX. I am expecting 50% in mileage. from 20mpg to 30mpg.

shoot for invoice. Go at the end of the month. You should be able to do it.

^ therefore, my suggestion was to get a similarly equipped accord (rather than tsx) because NOT ONLY does it get about 10mpg better than the mdx it ALSO requires regular fuel

gosh if i were you i would just trade the 07 MDX for the 09 TSX. i know the styling isn't for everyone, but for just $2K more you can get into an 09 and a bit more room and features that aren't found on the 08 TSX.

It's a tough choice right now, you should be able to get a killer deal for an 08, but if you like the looks of an 09, it could be hard to pass up a new design for the previous generation. If you want 6spd/Navi you probably cannot find anymore 08's. Autos with the more numerous colors seem to still be around, the dealer I bought from still has like 10 08's listed, including some in my combination(auto, navi, alabaster silver), that I could have gotten for less than what I paid 3 months ago, d'oh.

Don't forget, buying the first year could have more issues than a mid-cycle refresh year or the year after that. The new 09's aren't that radical of a design change, but the new nav systems, new steering system, new engine, etc etc have not been proven or refined one bit. I'd be very hesitant after reading about all the issues that people have had with the 04 TSX's.

The gas thing is an issue too, a HUGE downside to the TSX is the premium fuel, for a car that doesn't have a ton of low end torque. Way more power in a V6 Accord and regular gas. $150 more a year isn't gonna put me into bankruptcy, heck if I just turn off cable for the summer there is the savings right there. I can live with that.

I don't think 26k is much of a stretch, they need/want to get rid of the 08's, I believe invoice for the non-navi is 26,800ish before destination.

Thanks guys, I also have an 06 TL (Navi, 6sp). This TSX would have to be an AT (wife wants AT, altough she has no problem with TL 6sp). Don't care much for the NAVI, as we rarely use it on the TL. I will consider all pros and cons before making the decision to get rid of the MDX. Also, as far as accord goes - I really don't care for the way it looks.

I bought my 08 TSX (6spd non-navi) for ~$26.5k+ttl in late February (should've waited two more weeks for the 0.9%, I took the 2.9% thinking it wouldn't go any lower). With 09's already on the lot I'm sure you can easily hit $26k by now...

Let's just say I like the new grill on MDX. I don't think it's a good fit on a smaller car such as TSX. Perhaps it will grow on me with time. I always loved the looks of the 1st gen TSX.

I bought a 08 TSX 6MT w/o nav at end of march for $25900+ttl at (0.9% financing) which is a few hundred bucks under invoice. I thought it was a good deal and recommended a friend to that dealer as well. Of course she got a even"sweeter deal" for an 08 TSX WITH nav, 5AT for $25700+ttl at (4.9%financing) - but the dealer told her she will need to finance it for AT LEAST 5 years. I guess they must have made up the difference in the interest. I thought the 0.9% deal was over at the end of April? She also got $250 in service credits as well.
