Torque Test

This morning, I had an interesting experience that demos the lack of torque in the TSX. The weather here has been crappy and car was filthy on outside. I couldn't stomach the thought of washing in the rain by hand. This morning, I ran through a touchless/brushless carwash to get the bird bombs off at least.

So the wash has these depressions or chocks that you drive front wheels into to fix the location of the car in the wash. I pop in rolling, stop, let the wash run. When I get out, though, I had fairly great difficulty getting out of the depression or over the chocks. There's a dryer at the end that I wanted to use, so I could not (or did not want to) just jet out of the wash. I wanted to pop up out of the depression and crawl through the dryer. Was difficult. First time I tried it, I actually stalled it.

So much for smooth delivery of torque. Some may be attributable to my lack of finesse with the clutch, but it seemed absurd how difficult it was to simply rock out of the depression-thing.

And some sob behind me started honking.

Anyway . . . . .

Uh...sounds to me like you need to work on your driving with the clutch. I had less torque in my Integra and never had a problem getting out of the car washes.

We call that a Code 18.

Problem lies 18" behind the wheel.

Edit: No hard feelings meant. But you knew that was coming!

A) you people are not listening. I could get out, but would have jetted right past the dryer. Done it before, but didn't get dry enough. I wanted to just barely pop out of the depression and roll through the dryer slowly.

B)

They're just your problem is not a torque issue it's using the clutch, this is an enthusiast's site so most 6MT drivers have enough experience that it's not a problem for them. It would have been better to ask advice on how to use the clutch in that situation rather than blame the TSX.

For me, I sometimes get that when I drive stick...but not anymore. My TSX is auto! I wouldn't blame it on torque though.
