Hey Dan, after seeing your Garmin ique 3600 setup in your car I finally got one from GPScentral (thanks for the website). There is about 1-2 km/h discrepancy between the speedo and the ique. At any speed, ique read 1-2 km/h slower than what the speedo says. This also happens in my Sienna as well. Maybe my ique is little bit off?

i think that anyone disagreeing or not beleiving what im saying is completely daft. maybe im not talking about your tsx, but i drove my own tsx, the one i own, and marked down its physical characteristics. the way you guys talk is like people that say "well i dont know about that" when im telling you " i know about it and have experienced it".

if i had a ferrari that had a listed top end of 300 km/h and i test drove it, and for some reason it wouldnt pass 140 km/h. i would document the 140 km/h as MY top speed, maybe its defucnctional, but its a real value compared to a virtual one.

in 5th gear, the revs would not pass one solid point, that point was not the redline, it was 6000. who knows the reasoning. ill look into it on my next visit to the dealership.

also on a different note, i had a speeding ticket, 30 over the limit. i got my spedometer tested, 2% off of actual speed. which meant i was thinking that i was going faster than i really was. which should have worked against me in my plead for the ticket to be dropped. but even tho it was more incriminating, i got a "faulty equipment" fine of 150$ instead of a 300$ speeding. and they told me that my warrenty will run out faster than it really should hence the 2% extra KM being recorded on my car. which i am also going to get fixed at the dealer. most spedometers arent exact, but you can have them tested and fixed. i am going to get it cahnged so taht im not getting ripped off of extra kilometers that were never driven

Then you should have written your title as "Topped out MY TSX speed".

Something is wrong with your TSX.

With the taller gears, don't you think the 5AT would have a higher top speed than the 6MT? I don't even have to shift into 3rd until about 75 mph in SS mode.

I don't think 5 AT would have a higher top speed than a 6 MT. The reasons are:

1. AT is not as efficient as the MT in delivering power to the wheels.

2. Taller gears = more effort required to turn the wheels.

I think the point at which the driving force by the engine = friction and drag will occur at a lower speed in AT than MT if you take those into account. On the other hand, if there were no forces slowing down the vehicle and both AT and MT can reach 7100RPM in their 5th and 6th gear respectively, then I guess AT would win due to the taller gear. That's my hypothesis.

I've gone 115 in my 2000 Ford Escort. I didn't top it off. I got scared and slowed down. That's not very responsible!

Anonymous negative rep is

Maybe they didn't like the fact you drove a vette (or exceeded the speed limit).

I got anonymous negative rep on another thread today. Got anonymous positive rep for my chickens#!t pic though. Anyway, if this person is going to give negative rep for useless posting then they're gonna be really busy on this board cause there is a LOT of worthless posting here. So what. Life's too short to worry about rep.

I've had my TSX up to 95mph and it was smooooooooth. The fastest I've gone was around 115 in my old IROC-Z. The wind noise was deafening. At that speed air rushing past the windows caused negative pressure and sucked the windows out and away from the seals. Don't know the speed exactly as the speedo only went to 85 (and pegged at 90) so I had to interpolate using the tach.

I hit 110mph in 4th gear. I didn't even realize I was at redline, my friend had to tell me, but that's before I had my CAI, things should be different now. Thing is, I couldn't even notice I was driving 110mph.

Look this up in other threads for specific what-buttons-to-push info but here's the gist:

Put your Navi in diag mode, enter the GPS area and push and hold the Info button. You'll get to a screen with a real-time update of speed.

I've had my TSX up around 90-95. It was practically gliding along - didn't feel overstressed at all.

Wow 124 on LIE?? I've seen a porsche go blasting down it last time I was over there. Personally I've never been past 87 MPH on my TSX. It's not that I don't want to speed, but I've never really had a chance to? Down on campus there's this really long stretch of barren roads (looks like that scene in texas chainsaw mass.) I wanted to topspeed my TSX, but my girlfriend said no...

I have hit 144 on a couple occaisions, and my car is not modified besides an intake and a a sway bar. Fuck Car & Driver and their 133 "drag limited" statement. They also said that the TSX runs anywhere between 15.6 and 15.9 in the 1/4 (when I put 15.4 on it consistently when it was stock.
