Top Speed of TSX

I don't know ?because the car's electonic restrictor kicked in and kept me at 120mph. I knew the car had more speed in it, but I was governed. I'm sorry if this is a repost, I'm still new to this community. But has anyone removed their govenor, or has someone do it for them?

I have a friend with a GS 400. He raced a TL the other day and the TL beat him in the beginning but the TL's restrictor kicked in at 127 or something and my buddy caught up. The lexus' govenor doesn't kick in until 145mph, so he passed the Tl eventually. I heard govenors are put in cars so cop cars can cetch you. But seriously I paid money for a performance car, and i want all my performance from it.

This same night I had to use every ounce of hp I had to hold off a 1990 Altima/Sentra with parts (I can't remeber what that car is actually called in this country). Lucky thing we came up on traffic, but I made my TSX sing soprano to get the edge. I have a 6Spd so I constantly downshifted to get that boost. But thank God for Traffic cause he got stuck in it . Can't have a that car passing me. Has anyone removed their restrictor/govenor? Cause for the moment I'll just have to get up to 120 as fast as possible and hope my lead lasts

If you think the TSX is a performance car you may have some issues here....

No Smart asses

Guys i asked a serious question. If you all want to be some smart asses about it maybe you all need to grow up. The car has an electronic limiter in it. I'm asking has anyone took it off. I'm you are not going to respond seriously don't bother. I don't care how much Thread points or whatever you have.

"Top speed (drag limited): 133 mph"

So don't spend too much time looking for the limiter ...

Respect your 0.02 input. Can't help the speed bug now and again. My girl really has a problem with my driving some of the time when I'm challenged. I'm getting better at just not speeding anymore. The warning comes first, so Thanks

Wonder why your girl has a problem with your driving...

120? Honestly, WTF are you doing at that speed? Trying to get yourself killed? It's irresponsible drivers like you that drive up the insurance rates of good drivers.

Hmm. You had to remember to shift to 5th, then 6th.

Seriously though, I've been up to 143mph in mine, and there are stories from other members to confirm this too. You can search about it.

I'm pretty sure you can go faster than 120mph.

The fastest I've gone in my TSX is about 115mph? I forget, but definitely less than 120, but more than 110.

But during that short span of adrenaline rush (3a.m. nj turnpike), I could've pushed the car much more, but I didn't want my passengers to piss all over my rear seats

iamhomin, who went over 100 maybe 3 times in his life time.

How long are you racing someone for where it really makes a difference if you top at 120 or 140? If you're concerned about somebody passing you at 120, you picked the wrong car.

I call BS.

I'm with sauceman. Did you remember that you have to be in 5th to get max power? Pretty typical for lots of performance cars. The top gear is there for best efficiency, not for best power. It's counterintuitive, but on many cars you need to be in the lower gear to get yourself up to top speed. In some cars you can shift back to the top gear when you're done accelleratiing, and in others you need to stay in the lower gear even just to maintain the speed.

Most cars with restrictors on them have them there in order to prevent you from going faster than the stock tires allow. 130mph (H rating) and 149mph (V rating, minimum Z rating) are pretty common on lots of cars.

Our TSXs come with V rated tires, but even on a downhill straightaway, are unlikely to ever be able to get to 149mph. Drag holds them back long before then. You may be able to get a bit past the 133mph drag limit if you have a tailwind and/or are going downhill where gravity helps a bit, though the wind speed is an order of magnitude more important than whether or not you're going uphill or down.

Nijalo, you picked the wrong car. i look at the tsx as more of a cruiser than a sprinter. not only that but ur acting like the car cuts off at 80mph... ive personally hit 135-140iiish in my tsx, so i know it will go that fast..why are you mad that your car is cutting off at 120. try taking it out of sixth and d shifting to 5th..see if that helps..

can you guys picture this guy cursing himself when hes racing and his car stops at 120

Give the guy a break, it appears as if he was bouncing off the rev limiter while in 6th and hence the perception of an electronic limiter/restricter.
As they've said ...you'll get higher top speeds in 5th...but please don't get caught !

Impossible.

The only way you will bounce the rev limiter in 6th is in a vacuum.

That's not possible either. Car can't run in a vacuum...no air

BTW, if you can't get over 120 mph there is something wrong with your car. TSX has lots of juice left at that speed.

If it was a Nissan Sentra SE-R, it would be just as fast or faster than a TSX. My sister bought one back in '91 or '92 and it was a lot of fun to drive. Car and Driver posted 0-60 times that were about the same or less than the TSX.

What's the problem here? 120 is "crazy"? LOL !!! Driving in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Belgium or France constantly within 130-155 ... that's why we have 3 (three) lanes on an highway. The first is <=60, the second 60-100 and the third for the cars going fast. You know, like over 200hp. If you can't or don't want to go fast, take the first 2 lanes.

And you'll gonna die either way if something happens ... no matter if you do 60 or 150.

Hey genius, we're not in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Belgium, or France. We're in the US where the large majority of drivers are poorly trained, inexperienced, and plain foolish. I wouldn't want to be driving near anyone driving at those speeds until the licensing system in the US becomes stricter.

I would never drive in the US as I drive on the Autobahn. The idocy level is much higher in the US.

"Genius"? I would like to be one ... anyway, you're too jumpy. Take a deep breath and relax. I didn't know that drivers in US are poorly trained. I was in Ca for three months and they seemed pretty civilized and drove carefully. One thing made me crazy, the fact that on all three lanes everybody was doing the same speed. So if you wanted to do more, no way.

This is not right.
