TL Moonroof Visor

I'll be getting a 06 TSX this spring and I had a quick question for you guys.

I like moonroof visors but not the one for the TSX. It's extremely large looking and looks goofy. The 2006 Acura TL's moonroof looks much better. It's more low profile then the TSX's moonroof visor. My questions is will the 2006 Acura TL moonroof visor fit the 2006 Acura TSX.

Thanks!

I have not idea on the fitment from the TL. However, I had a visor on for about 6 weeks. In fact I bought it from a board member here. When I took it off, I found some hazing in the paint from the rubber gasket.

It took me 2 hours with a PC and three grades of 1Z polish to get the paint back to a crystal clear shine.

That was enough for me to forget about a visor ever again.

Another Question:

If indeed I can install a 2006 TL moon roof visor on the 06 TSX, will it work properly (reduce wind noise, deflect bugs, etc)?

'06 TL: 08R01-SEP-201 (H: 101mm, L: 1006mm, W: 279mm)
'06 TSX: 08R01-SEC-200 (H: 88mm, L: 971mm, W: 390mm)

I don't think it will fit.

There's a few guys on eBay selling custom cut moonroof visors. The ones I saw were much more low-profile and 'normal' than the Acura TSX one, which I agree is fugly as hell. I read 2 of them this morning, they have a spring clip solution that they claim holds tight without and screwing or drilling, and wont mar the paint. I can't recommend it, just a suggestion.

What does everyone think about this moonroof visor made my WeatherTech?

2006 Acura TSX WeatherTech Moonroof Visor

It looks VERY NICE in the picture on the TSX! Even better than the TL's.

Any thoughts on this moonroof visor? Has anyone had any experiences with any of WeatherTech's products?

Thanks Again!

Never heard of it before, but it certainly does look good (better than anything else I've seen). They at least went through the effort to copyright and trademark enough of their products to say they aren't el cheapo fly-by-night provider. I like the fact that it sits on a gasket too instead of just a few rubber 'feet' like the other aftermarket ones.

Its certainly not too expensive either. If you get this, please let us know how it is. I want to get a deflector before spring, I'm an all windows down kinda driver myself.

I really like this one too! I'll probably order this in May when I buy my TSX.

If anyone else has anything better to recommend, please do so.

Do you think the Acura dealership will be willing to install this for me?

Thanks

I bought and installed this a couple weeks ago. It works as advertised and is not too hard to install.

In general I'd be surprised if any dealer installs anything other than their own products. You could probably buy the Acura visor (for example) elsewhere and have your local Acura dealer install it, but a non-Acura one, I doubt it.

When I bought my TSX ~2 weeks ago, I requested TL body side moldings be installed. The salesman wrote up the regular TL price (w/ installation) on the contract. When I picked up a car, the pieces were in the trunk (still in the box), since it was a non-standard installation, the service dept wouldn't install them (I did at least get them to refund me the installation fee).

That's got to be the lamest, customer service attitude ever from a premium-car's dealership and service shop. At least the dealer should have eaten the extra cost to save face.

I know at least some Acura dealers will happily install aftermarket mods (let alone official Acura parts meant for other cars, assuming they will fit).

By the way, why would you even want a moonroof visor? I specifically open the moonroof so there WILL be wind in the car...

The visor cuts down on the excessive amount of wind noise without affecting the airflow benefits of having the roof open. I used to think they were pretty stupid too...then I rode in a Grand Cherokee with one, and was just blown away by the noise reduction. So I put one on my Trailblazer, and it worked pretty well. When I test drove the TSX, it didn't have one, so I opened the roof...pretty noisy. Had one installed on my new TSX...and it cuts the noise by 75%...

I had a visor on my 03 Accord and it was great to keep the noise and the buffeting out of the cabin. My new TSX does not have a visor and I wish it did. I may look into this WeatherTech visor. I agree with the previous posts that the Honda/Acura visor is big and obnoxious (it appears to be the same visor on the USDM Accord)

I had one on my accord, but I rarely used the moonroof (visor covered liked a quarter of the opening anyway. The wind noise was reduced (compared to my other accord which has no visor), although the two accords have a slight wind noise problem with the doors (like all typical hondas of the day, the doors don't have a tight seal...my friend's toyota sounded so solid whenever I would ride with him).

My favorite thing for using the visor is that I can open the moonroof slightly while it's raining...It makes for a pleasant atmosphere, but be sure to close the moonroof before you slam on the brakes lol

yeefuchew, Does that fit in the same grooves that the Acura OEM one (the clips) and if so, does it include the protection tape and such?

I've got the OEM one, and I'm thinking I might like one that's more low-profile...just for looks. The OEM one is quite a solid piece, despite being a bit "high" on the car, and works very well...I'm figuring that if the weathertech or benevento ones come with the same setup, perhaps I'll switch and toss the OEM one on ebay...

I think they're "AMG" wheels. Yeah, maybe some think I'm selling out, but I think it gives a classy/sporty look. For me, it was anything but the OEM wheels.

It's not too hard. You just need to make sure the clips are properly spaced, which takes a little trial and error.

I think it fits the same grooves, but I can't be sure since I've never seen the OEM ones up close. There's no protection tape for the clips. My impression is that the area they latch onto isn't very scratch sensitive. If you mean tape at the point of visor-rubber contacting the roof top, there isn't any. Hopefully, there won't be any kind of abrasion marks.

I got the oem one, it is bulky but it did a better job then one of those cheap domes i had in some of the old meets.

It is bulky still but the round hump i had was kind of an eyesore, like

The oem was able to fit firmly using 4 clips and screwed tight.

Yeah, it can be a bit tricky at first. But after you get the hang of it, it shouldn't be a problem. I just re-installed mine after I did the Zaino thing. The re-install was much faster. About 5 minutes whereas the first time it took me about 20.

I put the bottom catch-fasteners on first, simply by pushing down the springed oem windblocker (the black long thing that runs the length of the front opening after the moonroof is open), then hooking on the fasteners near the corners. You simply let the windblocker pop back up and it pushes up and holds the fasterners in place.

Then you position your visor over the fasteners, so its holes line up over the fasteners. You then put a screw in one of the holes, reach around underneath to hold up the fastener and turn in the screw. After it catches, tighten it a little, but not all the way, so you have room to maneuver the other side. Go to the other side, position the visor better and do the same until the second screw fastens. After that, you should be able to make final adjustments and tighten until you are satisfied.

If you still have problems getting the screws to catch the fasteners, take them out and bend them up a bit and try again. I did that the first time. They are a little flexible.

PM me if you still need help.
