I tinted my Scion tC at Express Tint in Centerville, Va. The address is 13900 Lee Hwy Centreville, VA 20120 if you want to Google Map it. I really liked their service and they used SolarGuard tints with lifetime warranty. I believe I paid $200 or so for my car back then.

There is also TNT Tint located at 60 S Pickett St #A Alexandria, VA 22304 if you do not want to drive out that far. I've heard good things from them and I think they charge around $225 for a four door with Solarguard and lifetime warranty.

If you'd just use any tint shop, you could enter your address in google maps and find businesses "tint" and it should give you a list.

I also heard LA Tint was good but pricey. I called the one in Alexandria and they quoted me something like $320 for the Formula One / Pinnacle ceramic on all 4 doors + the back. (I don't know if that includes moleskin)

I'm thinking about getting the Pinnacle 50% done there. I want it more for heat rejection than appearance. 35% would be great if it were always sunny, but I wouldn't want it during an evening thunderstorm. Getting older really turns you into a wus and makes you think about safety.

I had 35% on my tC and never had a problem driving with it. I think that any darker wouldn't have worked, tho.

I called Express Tint and they quoted me $220 and TNT quoted me $235 but it's much, much closer to home. I think I will go with TNT and use Solarguard 35% for my car.

Wow...you guys are getting quoted some good rates. I called Ziebart, LA Tint, TNT, and a few others and told them that I had an 06 TSX with Navi and they said that it would be close to 520 for tint and most of them said they refuse to put on moleskins...that is why I have been driving tintless thus far.

I called LA tint and they quoted the same $320 for ceramic tint all the way around. I didnt want to pay that much so I am going to a place I took my GFs G35 sedan. They did a great job (50% all around).

They quoted me at $230 with Solarguard and lifetime warranty.

LA Tint refused when I called. They said that it would require removing the door panel and that would take too long.

I have to ask, does the ceramic tint make that much difference with the NAV system? Ziebart told me that they do cars with NAV's all the time and never use the ceramic.

Your navigation antena is not inside the car so why would it matter? It's located on the roof, is it not?

The way it was explained to me is that the navi antenna is an "integrated rear glass antenna". I assume that means it's just north of the rear window defrosters on the inside of the window. I've been told i had to use ceramic, but i heard that interference from using metallized tint is minimal to nonexistent.

Nope.

And Nope.

The XM antenna sits in the fin on the top of the car. The navi antenna is a little puck mounted on the rear shelf, below / behind the 3rd brake light, between your two rear 6x9s. Its reception WILL be adversely affected by a metallic tint.

Sweet! I love spreading misinformation. Thanks for the clarification Reach. Although, i am by no means advocating the use of metallic tint on a navi TSX, the handful of people i've spoken to with that set-up claim that it has no effect on the performance of their navi. That said, I wouldn't do it (a handful is not a statistically significant sample size).

Another question for the well-informed. Moleskin: is it absolutely necessary?

I made an appointment w/ LA Tint (the one in Alexandria) for this coming Tuesday to get 50% Pinnacle ceramic all around for $329. They guy at the desk didn't seem to know what I was talking about when I asked about moleskin or felt. After explaining it, he said they don't do that. He also said they do not need to remove the door panels (as I've read in other posts on this site). Prices for other types of tint (metallic) he quoted me were $269 & $289. I really hope the ceramic is worth the extra $$.

Got the Pinnacle 50% done LA Tint in Alexandria. $345 after tax. Only took about half an hour. I think my black interior makes it look a little darker, which is what I was hoping for. Installer said moleskin was only required on a few specific cars; not the TSX. He said just keep it clean and you won't have any problems. Also, don't roll the windows down for 3 days.

Congrats on the tint job. I'll be making my appt @ LA Tint in the next few weeks. Also have ebony interior - good to know it gives the appearance of a darker tint.

wow, i had no idea tints were so expensive out of my area... i take all my cars to this one guy richie whoclose to my house. he does the cuts right at the edge of the window which i love, and uses solarguard and offers lifetime warranty. my old 01 xtreme ext cab was $80. 04 g35 coupe (5% all around and 51% on windsheild) $100..My dads 04 f150 super crew - $90. dads g/f's camry - $90. i only know of one place in miami that charges near what you guys are used to paying, and he does so because he has a computer controlled laser cutting the tints for him so they come out 100% perfect every time. he charges $250. ill stick to richie!

I heart cheap tints

Does anyone know what Carbon Tint is?

I was offered that and they say that it will not mess with my Navi.

Window Tinting

I researched places my friends recommended (L.A. Tint, California Tint, etc) and ended up having the owner for California tint in Vienna/Mclean doing my 2004 TSX. He charged me $280 which was less than L.A. Tint's quote of $320. I'm very happy and recommend him call him at (703) 757 9535. It took longer than an hour but good work takes time. He's a professional not someone in training.

you do know what moleskin is right? and sorry to tell you, but it IS needed for the tsx and the tl, the rl has felt on the window wipers already. the company even has a kit pre cut just for the tsx lol...most likely it will end up scratching down the road, could take weeks, could take a year, but it will...

Window Tinting in Arlington/ DC Area

I had a very good experience at Graphics-N-Tints in Falls Church, VA

http://graphicsntints.com/
537 North Washington Street
Falls Church, VA 22046

703.532.4681 (GNT1)
Fax 703.532.3204
Cell 240.731.7345

I had my back and rear windows tinted with 3M FXHP and it cost $200

If I wanted all 4 windows it would have cost $250.

I dealt with Jacque who was very professional and they did a good job.

Thumbs up

Got my tint done on Friday. It looks great! 35% all the way around. But my bro says its too dark. I think its just right. Although I do live in Fairfax County so who knows what will happen.

My navi still works fine, got the carbon based tint and it works like a charm.
Will try to post pics as soon as the weather clears out.

Thanks for the reference- I just scheduled our two cars to get tinted here this weekend. My 2009 mazdaspeed 3 and her 2008 tsx w/nav here. Both cars have black interiors. I going with 35% all around on mine but I’m up in the air on the tsx between 35-50%.

The number was changed to 703-538-2500 btw.

Just FYI everyone, you can now use the Regions subforum for local questions such as these. Check it out by using the tab at the top of the page.

I live in FFX too and am running 35% all around. Haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood) but it is technically illegal and you could be ticketed. Got mine with lifetime warranty out in Chantilly, http://www.contourtinting.com/

If you're contemplating 50% I would just go without tint as 50 is pointless IMO for use and for looks.

I ran 35% on my wrx 5+ years without problems in Fairfax county- I'm not worried about geting pulled over. I'm going to go with 35% on the tsx along with my ms3. Aesthics and heat/light reduction will be much improved.

Just got my THIRD ticket in FFX.

1st in Annandale
2nd on 66 (4th of July)
3rd near Tysons (Today)

Messed up thing is that I still have to go to court for the second ticket - I told that stupid pig that I had a ticket, but he still gave me another one anyways.

Now I gotta take this shit off - going with 50% I suppose. White TL looks so sweet with the all around 35 thou....

I had my 08 tsx tinted at ziebart tint in fairfax, va a little over a yr ago, for $210 i beleive, i did 32% all around....they did a great job on the back window and the 2 rears but were horrible on the front doors, my passenger side front door window has a huge gap at the front...I would never reccomend them to anyone and my friend actually owns a tint shop in Chantilly, his work is a lot better or similar to a lot of the other places mentioned on here, I have also heard good things about graphics n tints
