i don't understand why they'd go for something sportier.. and then leave it as only an Automatic... what is the deal? Type-S anyone?

 

I think this is a good move for them in terms of marketing and sales.

With that said, I would never buy this (pending a drive to proove my hypothesis). Still FWD, more weight up front, open diff. This thing should have a healthy dose of torque steer and plow nicely into corners with the understeer i would expect. Hopefully I am wrong. As an enthusiast this is not what i would be looking for, but I guess as an enthusiast - I make up 0.05% of Acura's market demographic.
