Tighten Fuel Cap
#41
Filled up yesterday, no problem, drove today, no problem. Stopped at a friends place for 30 mins, got back in the car, Warning came on. Tightened Cap 2 times, still on.
So I shouldnt be worried that my Tighten Fuel Cap warning just came on?

Check rubber gasket inside the gas cap
I posted back in early 2006 right after I got my 2006 TSX, when 2 months after the purchase the gas cap warning light came on and then went out about a week later. Well I've had the car now about 18 months and the light came on again back in July. I took the cap off, tightened it and let it go for a while thinking the light would go off again in about a week, but it never did. So I investigated further and the rubber was cracked and kind of peeling that seals the cap onto the filler tube and not seating correctly.
When I went to get an oil change, I had the guys order a new cap. The new cap seems to have a clearer red color and not black rubber like the original one. The guy at the dealership said they seem to get a lot of those. Anyway after I put the new cap on (I had them ship me the cap since the dealer is 20 miles from the house and didn't feel like running there and back just for a gas cap) the light still didn't go off in a week's time. So I just disconnected the battery for a minute and then the light was gone and hasn't popped up yet.
So make sure you check the rubber inside the cap to make sure it's not torn and is smooth so it seals properly. Just another idea. Thanks...
